I lost 70 lbs on a low-carb, high protien, lots of vegetables and non-fat dairy products diet.
I remember hearing almost a year ago that the price of milk was going to shoot up. It didnât seem to at the Wal Mart where I buy my groceries. The highest a gallon of 1% milk has ever cost me there was $3.28. For a while 1% milk cost $2.47. Now itâs up to $2.74.
Food prices are outragousley high where I live. A dozen eggs costs $3.59. One medium size bell pepper can run $2.00, beef is usually $7.00 a pound.
Whew! Where do you live? Do employers pay you enough to afford this?
I drink about the same amount of skim milk myself. I use it for my protein shakes.
I live in the South Bay Area of California. I used to spend a lot on groceries
It has like 12 or so grams carbs per cup and like 8 grams protein.
Eight ounces of 1% milk have 100 calories. Are you sure it isnât fat that youâre talking about?
Itâs just 4% of the recommended daily allowance. That isnât too bad.
But if youâre drinking 3 gallons a week, that ends up averaging over 100% daily value per day in milk alone. Itâs fine if your blood sugars arenât a problem for you, but if you have a reason to keep an eye on your glucose levels then it could be a huge problem.
So far I donât, but that could change.
Well thatâs good! You had me worried about you since you mentioned it controlling your blood sugar levels. Hopefully it never becomes an issue for you.
Iâll only drink milk if itâs fresh strait out the utters whole milk, and thats if I am in a position where I have to drink milk.
12 grams of carbs is a good amount to consume from of a serving of food in exchange for the 8 grams of protein you get, in a diabetic diet. In one meal youâre allowed 45 grams of carbs.
