Happy Memorial Day, and a little nugget of forgotten info

Happy Memorial Day all! Did you know Memorial Day was started by former slaves on May, 1, 1865 in Charleston, SC to honor 257 dead Union Soldiers who had been buried in a mass grave in a Confederate prison camp. They dug up the bodies and worked for 2 weeks to give them a proper burial as gratitude for fighting for their freedom. They then held a parade of 10,000 people led by 2,800 Black children where they marched, sang and celebrated.

That is a refreshing tid bit. It made me happy and hopeful.

I can’t believe I forgot that was today…and she had reminded me last Friday about it too…
We believed in honoring anyone who served even if they didn’t die while serving…

Hmmm. Interesting historical fact.

I never forget 3 day weekends!!!

LOL, I do! Since I haven’t worked for an employer since 2004 I tend to forget when 3 day weekends are a lot. this manifests mostly when I will go to town on a Monday to realize where i wanted to go is closed!
This topic actually is what reminded me of Memorial Day…I had planned on paying a bill Monday and had to wait till Tuesday, LOL
