I want to be content and happy with life again. I haven’t been happy in years. Can schizophrenics be happy?
Of course you can. Choose to be happy. Just simply choose it. Find things you enjoy everyday, just the little things like appreciating the sky, having your first sip of a coffee that you’ve been longing for, etc…
It’s been a long time since I’ve been happy but recently I changed my antidepressant to Zoloft and I can feel happiness again. It’s great. It’s been like waking up from a bad dream.
If it was as simple as being able to choose happiness I’d have done it a long time ago.
There are many reasons why a person can lose their sense of well-being, but my illness and everything else that went along with it made me very unhappy for years. Every once in a while, something would make me laugh or smile, but it was hard. I am older now and over the last 15 years, things have gotten better and better. I am hippie than I’ve ever been. So yes, schizophrenics can find happiness. Just do your best and don’t give up.
I just finished my last day of day treatment and have been told that I look happier recently.
Right - of course @Chester_Navarro!
Happiness is always possible, don’t give up
I just think you have the wrong attitude towards it! Just find gratitude in the little things and it’s a step in the right direction. Just my advice, do with it what you will
Everyone can be happy, don’t give up!
The right medication will make you happy.
I had a very tough time for like a year feeling empty and searching for happiness.
When I started an antidepressant, I was instantly happier and a lot more motivated.
I am also taking sarcosine.
You can not really expect a situation or a person to make you happy. You have to learn to be happy by yourself for yourself. Work towards your goals and work on yourself.
Really? I just don’t know if this is any longer possible for me? I’m happy to hear it worked for you, though, @mermaid1.
Happiness is fluctuating. So try to find joy in something. Joy is more of a constant. Basically it’s something you can’t stop thinking about whether it be a person, hobby or belief system.
I’m glad you found what works for you, friend. Please stay alive.
