Haloperidol vs risperidone, my experience

Usually paychiatric warda in my country usually put a patient on 2 antipaychotics to stabilize schizophrenia. My first long med was risperidone, I felt really anxious on it, had a pretty shaky hands and I had small episodes of paranoia, thus making it really ineffective. I also haf restlessness on it, this med is really least sedating of all but restlesness often manifest in racing thoughts and anxiety and possibly psychosis, that one small paranoia episode came into 2 month hospitalization. I have no idea if it stopped working or it caused itaelf.

My second med now is haldold, it is a bit more sedating, I mean more calming. It deals with my schizoprenia much better and is less bad on weight gain and prolactin. I dont have restlessness anymore and I can focus on something I am doing. Dont have racing thoughts anymore. One bad side effect that many people are afraid of and often stops it immediatelly is because possible strong tardive dyskinesia: head locking into shoulder and strong parkinsonism. However I dont have it and dont use any anti parkinson agents.

Interesting, Risperidone for me was very sedating.

For people like you and I. It seems that typical antipsychotic has a place in our treatments.
