Do you have any advice on which one works better?

10mg of Haldol made me feel emotionless and numb like a zombie. I couldn’t function on it. Risperidone and Invega both worked well for my positive symptoms but had a major weight gain side effect.

Risperdal was okay for me. I had a negative experience with Haldol. I actually hated haldol.

Risperdal was the first antipsychotic I was put on. It really knocked me out to begin with and I piled on the weight and had leaking boobs and high prolactin and a red rash on my face. It did make me feel calm though and got rid of the voice’s completely and paranoia. I think I was on 3 mg? After a while I cut the dose down on my own and some of the side effects went away but left me with a four dress sizes increased weight gain. I am incredibly lucky as I ca get by on a tiny dose of antipsychotic and still not have any voices or paranoia. However I still lack motivation and the weight gain doesn’t seem to go. On Haldol my weight has been stable and I am on a low dose 3 mg. However as time progressed I have become a coach potato and not been able to follow instructions. I have found that I have reacted to hair products and perfume more and I think Haldol has caused this. Also, it didn’t completely get rid of my paranoia. I am currently reducing my haloperidol and will increase again if I need to. Antipsychotics withdrawal can be be very severe, In my case I got severe muscle pain and headache for weeks. It can take some people years to taper down. You can have psychotic rebound symptoms so you don’t really know if you can come off. Most people will relapse and guess if you get suicidal or have aggressive command voices it’s best to not try to withdraw. Omg…sorry for rambling on and totally going off subject. Hope you can come up with a decision you’re happy with

I would have to take haldol.

Hi, Hi, I just came off Metformin for my diabetes and I am putting on weight so maybe it is Metformin that has kept my weight stable on Haloperidol. I know when I go up to 2000 mg of Metform it reduces my weight but I can”t tolerate that much as it knocks me out. :slightly_frowning_face:. So perhaps some metformin would keep some people stable weight on various antipsychotics. I think there are some people who can reduce weight on a lesser dose of Metformin whilst on antipsychotics.

I’m on both. Teetering off the risperidone right now, as I’m planning on going on Invega Shot. But I’m also on 60mg of haldol and caplyta so I’m at least on some antipsychotics. they both helped a lot initially for my positive symptoms

I’m on Risperdal now but I’ve been on Haldol many times

I love how Haldol makes me feel

It’s the most stabilizing drug I’ve been on but it has a high TD rate
