Geodon made my visuals more intense as well. (And threw me into mania…)
Clozapine is supposed to be the AP that works for 90% of people so it’s regarded as the most effective one. It does come with many side effects though, most notably weight gain and sedation.
I’m sorry this is happening to you. I also have yet to find medication that works for me. I am medicated yet I visually hallucinate pretty much everyday.
You might have to take a break from driving. I’m unable to drive since I also see things jump out into the road. Along with shadow dogs chasing whatever vehicle I’m in, and severe light sensory issues, its safest if I don’t drive.
One time, I was double dosing on my Geodon accidentally, and I was having delusions that were worse than ever before. Like very, very intense. I thought that people could bore giant holes through my brain using only their minds. It was that bad. My pdoc made me aware that I was double dosing on the Geodon and I went to the correct dose and this symptom disappeared.
Seroquel just made me angry, no symptom improvement at all, and risperidol I tried long ago and it gave me EPS, bad. The visuals aren’t down, but I almost always know when something isn’t real, which will have to do for now.
I’ve been on 80 x 2 Geodon and 400 x 2 Seroquel daily for over a decade, and they have controlled my symptoms well. Geodon has been a very good drug for me, but the med’s affect people differently. If you’re that psychotic on an atypical ap, maybe you should try an atypical ap like Haldol. I don’t like that drug, but it might be okay for you. People react to the drugs differently.
I’ve tried haldol, and it was good for the positive symptoms. Maybe least hallucinations and delusions ever. But also had EPS on it, so had to discontinue.
