Geodon and Weight Gain

i started geodon recently and was wondering how much weight i should expect to gain
additional information: i am fairly physically active (i’m in college, so i walk everywhere), but i eat very poorly

I think its weight neutral but I might be wrong !!

It’s meant to be weight neutral, but must be taken with food. It’s absorbed better with a balanced meal.

If you keep active, that helps a lot to keep weight down.

There’s also been research involving links with proper diet, schizophrenia, and depression. Junk food doesn’t really help us feel good physically, which stresses the mind and leads to symptoms.

Geodon suppose to be weight neutral. How do you feel on geodon? Can you concentrate with it?

I lost about 40 lbs when I started Geodon.

i’ve only been taking it for a week, but i feel fine, if a little sleepier. i had thought all antipsychotics caused weight gain, good to know i was wrong

What symptoms do you have? I hope it will do well for you.

like, sza symptoms or geodon side effects? i have psychosis, mostly voices and delusions, and the typical autism-like negative symptoms. as for side effects, geodon seems to make me drowsy and maybe a little keyed up

I’ve been on Geodon and Seroquel for a long time, and I always felt pretty good. Geodon is the only ap I have taken that hasn’t dulled my mind.

I am glad that those meds work for you. I remember you said you have been on it for 15 years which is great.

Does it able to keep your voice down yet? Keep us updated. Geodon is not as popular as other ap for some reason.

so far i have not noticed any symptom relief, no. but it’s only been a week

The reason is it’s expensive and Medicaid doesn’t cover it.

Depends on the person. I gain a crazy amount of weight really fast with all atypicals, but the older typical APs don’t cause much weight gain for me.

I had a bad reaction to Geodon and Latuda and anything like that “family” of drugs, I become physically violent and turn into superwoman. It was not pleasant, they injected me with it in ER, I flipped a bunch of furniture in room, tackled security, etc. I weighed 120lbs and am 5’4". There is a big sticker on my chart s as ying allergic and severe adverse reactions. Had it happen twice at same ER in SD. Yeah, hubby went to work at the jail the next night and they’re like “your wife tackled Officer whatever” so yeah, that’s how his coworkers learned I was not right. But they started joking that if you ■■■■■■ with hubby, they’d let me out of my cage…■■■■■■■■.
