Generic Abilify, yet another brand

I get nervous when I’m given a different brand of generic Abilify as one brand I had didn’t work out.

So today I was given yet another new generic Abilify brand.

Fingers crossed it works out …

Hope it works for you. I hate it when my pharmacy gives me the square generic paliperidone pills i always choke on them.

I thought the generics by law had to be the same as the brand

Just the active ingredient.

One brand I had started to melt In my mouth before I swallowed it. It wasn’t an oradisperable tablet either. The active ingredient may have been 15mg aripiprazole, but it wasn’t being delivered properly. That was a nightmare.

That really sucks! If the other ingredients effect the performance of a chemical, then that should be part of the law as well

It can matter a great deal, not everyone can tolerate different meds, even brands of the same medication. If I didn’t get off the generic olanzapine a couple of years ago, I would literally have been dead. It was impossible to sleep on it for me.

I’m not sure it’s working out for me.

I’m very down in the dumps since I started taking this brand.

Have your doctor request a specific generic brand name of your choosing to your insurance/pharmacy.
This way you won’t be unpleasantly surprised anymore

Could be the drug. Could be some sort of weird interaction between the two brands. Abilify has a very long halflife. I imagine it would take about two weeks before the initial brand wears off enough to not be felt.

Now theoretically such a interaction shouldn’t happen since they say it’s the same active ingredient, but in my experience it’s possible.

Maybe give it another week, or just get back on the old one right away.
