Recently I have been waking up with it hard to breathe and extremely dry, irritated throat like I have been sucking on air while sleeping.
I thought it may have been a big part of Covid, but as I emerge out the other end of the Covid experience(getting over it), I am starting to think the weight gain is the larger part of the issue in either creating sleep apnea, or perhaps, worsening it.
Been trying to sleep on my sides but I move around in sleep and wake up on back often anyway.
Anyway, another trial and tribulation to be had I guess.
I guess I need to put some effort into re motivating myself on the weight loss front.
I don’t know if it is the case but I think weight can influence sleep apnea. For example people who are 600lbs I’ve seen on TV sometimes have hard times with breathing during sleep to show the extreme example.
I honestly am not sure what to try at this point. My diabetes makes dieting more complicated also. I’ve been off and on trying to lose weight for quite some time via different methods. NOthing seems to stick.
I know your hesitant to try a newer drug like Mounjaro but there’s a good chance that you will have better blood sugar control and weight loss with it.
I would get a bed wedge off Amazon. It will elevate your upper body. It should help you sleep better if it’s sleep apnea. Being propped up puts less pressure on your chest so it’s easier to breath.
Voice your concerns. Sometimes taking insulin shots can cause weight gain for type 2 patients. I’m sorry you are going through this!!! Not fair to you.
I plateaued and then gained on Saxenda before and over the holidays because of the amount of crap food. I’m back on track and losing again. I have taken over the bulk of the cooking as my wife does not make good food choices despite knowing better. She has also been diagnosed as diabetic so I need to get her to eat better, too.
