I recommend The Shining, and Doctor Sleep. Doctor Sleep is the sequel to The Shining, and both are among my favorite Stephen King novels. IT is also good, but it’s a long read.

Last two books I read were autobiographies: “Life” by Keith Richards and “Does the Noise in my Head Bother You?” by Steven Tyler. Those were like over ten years ago.

“Different Seasons” is another Stephen King book that’s not so much horror. One of the stories in it, The Body, was adapted into the movie Stand by Me.

Without spoiling the books or movie, I’ll say that the movie Doctor sleep does a lot of patchwork from the first Shining and how much Kubrick deviated from the source material. I appreciated Doctor Sleep the movie a lot more having read the two books.

I read a lot growing up but stopped reading most books when I got sick in 1980. The only other books I read were textbooks and novels I had to read for my college classes.

Over the past three months I have been reading “Influence” by Robert Cialdini. It’s about how we were influenced by other people when making dicisions. Really really a good book. Highly recommend.
