For those of you with dogs

Oh man I’m changing my mind about feeding Echo wet food.
The cans are large and can only be stored in the fridge up to 3 days and I was planning on feeding him only a tablespoon as a treat.
This means that I’m going to have to throw away the rest of the canned food in the garbage!

Each can is expensive and I’m not a billionaire

Looks like I’m going to feed him dry only but this is what my Vet suggested anyway.

Oh well

They are going well @TheFountainPen
Better than I expected

I mean they are not buddies yet but so far they are both respecting each others space

Can you get smaller trays for small breeds.

Yes I can but it’s not really worth it

My Vet wants him on dry food only plus he’s doing fine with the dry

Firm stools

I feed a mixture of both. In the past she has been solely on wet food however now I give her both dry and wet.

Just be careful with the dry food @Wave my pug struggles and often would choke on it due to flat face (which frenchies also have) so I let her biscuits soak in hot water now first.

Yes @Qwerty my Frenchie is a fast eater and will sometimes gag on his food.

My Vet did mention soaking the kibble first for a while

I soaked his kibble in warm water when he was 2 months old but maybe I should continue with it.

Thanks @Qwerty!

Is your pug a fast eater?

I have to use a slow feeder bowl for him

He inhales his food! @Qwerty

Yes she is a fast eater. I tried the slow feeder bowls when she was a puppy and it still didn’t work…she would choke. It was actually very scary to see it. I still have anxiety about her eating to this day.

Aww poor baby… yes I worry about Echo choking too.

I may soak his food for like 5 minutes before feeding him but soaked food doesn’t work well with a slow feeder bowl

The slow feeder bowls don’t work that great, I know what you mean @Qwerty

Maybe I’ll just soak his food and use a regular bowl

I also elevate his feeding bowl using a special stand.

This can help with choking as well

I think it is a good idea. I’d love to see another picture of your little Frenchie. Love those dogs so much.

he may not need the slow bowl if u add enough water to his food. i had slow bowls for mine cause they ate way too fast. then when i switched them to watered down food they seemed to actually take longer than with the slow bowl which is still fast but they dont choke themselves anymore.

We’ve been on a journey with food since Sam switched over to adult brands. She really didn’t enjoy any of them for long. She would have these episodes that would last for days where she wouldn’t eat her dry food unless I mixed something in. Usually tuna water or a small dog wet food, sometimes veggies or rice worked too. She eventually got tired of Blue Buffalo so I got her a couple cases of can food and fed her twice a day what it said on the label, which was 1/3 of a can with around a cup of food. She loved it but towards the end of about a month you could notice an unhealthy weight gain. So I took her off it and tried another brand from Authority. She hated that stuff. Just got a bag of Picky No More for her today. She ate the first bowl plain quite happily so I am hopeful this is the brand she can stay on for a while.
