I agreed to look after my housemates dog in group home (which is a great dog) last minute for and for 10 days days while my housemate went to Spain, the person who was meant to look after him fell through. I followed the dogs daily routine that my housemate has.. I think he’s peed off with me because while walking the dog I popped round a mates to drop of some frozen pizzas and I brought the wrong dog food which I had to buy,. Other housemate told him this. I didn’t even get a thank you when he returned.
If he is mad at you for doing a massive favor imperfectly, that is not your problem. You even bought his dog food.
Yeah what Ninjastar said.
He told other housemate I brought too expensive dog food (only puppy food they had in pet shop) and he didn’t want him taking a liking to it.
This is not a person who should have an animal.

I think the same, I can’t overstep with him but I disagree that he thinks a dog will be okay with just dry food. I think they should have both wet and dry dog food. He really enjoys wet food but doesn’t seem to enjoy dry food as much. My housemate hardly buys wet food if he’s gambled all his money away.
A lot of people here would pay a friend to look after their dog for a whole week. If he is annoyed with you he’s not a very good friend.
Dry food is better for the dogs teeth than wet food is (less tartar build up on the teeth)
Yes I wholeheartedly agree with @Moonbeam
Dry food (kibble) is usually better for dogs.
I’ve recently added some wet food to my dogs kibble but I may have to go back to feeding him exclusively dry food only.
He’s starting to scratch himself on the wet food.
It is, but you can go crazy living on celery, which it is the dog equivalent of. A treat here and there followed by a Dentabone is a needed kindness.
I add some warm water to my dogs kibble to add some hydration
Kibble is extremely dry.
There is also nothing wrong about feeding dogs wet food or a combo diet either.
Kibble tends to be better for a dogs dental health and it’s less expensive but wet food is better for hydration
My dog loves wet food
I usually feed him a combo diet of dry and wet but unfortunately he’s becoming allergic to his wet food so as of today he’s going on an all dry diet
On the other hand cats ideally do better with wet food.
Wet food helps with kidney health.
Many cats will unfortunately end up with kidney disease so hydration is important for them.
I feed my cat wet food during the day and a small amount of prescription dry food overnight
Like my dog, my cat has food allergies.
Ultimately, it doesn’t much matter. You were watching the dog, you spoiled him a bit, and now he is back to his regular routine. That happens all the time to pets and human children alike. It’s super normal, and that’s how we get stereotypes of the fun aunt/uncle, or the joys of going to grandma’s house for a sleepover. No one likes sudden disruptions to their routine, and spoiling them makes it fun instead of scary.
Whenever our friend watches our cats, she gives them extra treats and catnip. When our other friend used to watch Starlet, he would let him play video games 24/7. Those aren’t healthy as a routine, but they’re fine as occasional treats.
When you’re in a bind, you have to accept the solution you have, whether or not it would be your top pick. Complaining about people not meeting your standards when they’re doing you a favor means they’re less likely to keep doing you favors. Also, the dog was NOT going to keep his routine regardless, because his routine includes his owner. All you did was make it fun instead of scary.
Your roommate is out of line. He should be so grateful that you were so good to his fur baby.
