For the dog owners out there

Do you feed your dog/dogs dry or wet food?
I used to feed my dog a combo/ mixed diet of both dry and wet food but now I exclusively feed him dry dog food (kibble)
Dry dog food is probably the better choice for owners that don’t want to fuss with the mess that wet or canned dog foods bring.

Dry food is also better for their teeth.

But my dog does love wet food more

I feed my dog dry kibble with the occasional egg on top. She does love canned food more, tho, but it’s too expensive.

Yes, wet food is very expensive, especially prescription wet food like the kind I used to buy him.
Wet food also doesn’t last very long

My elderly dog is on wet food only diet, my younger dog eats mostly dry kibble

My dog has wet and dry

But his teeth and mouth are quite small so give him less crunchy kibble otherwise he struggles to eat it

You can also get dry food and soak it in warm water and add some chicken stock or cheese. I did this for my elderly dog for a while until she started needing more protein and fluids

yes thats true @Moon I did this a few times and it worked. Still keep her on the wet food though

I think that I’m going g to restart him on both wet and dry dog food.
He enjoys the combo very much

I think the wet food is nicer for them

My dog only eats kibble, with the occasional fruit/veggie like apples, blueberries, bananas mainly

If it were up to me, I’d get him wet food. He deserves it

We call our little dog Dyson…named after the vacuum cleaner. You drop a scrap of food on the floor and he inhales it in seconds flat.

I feed him wet and crunchy food for his teeth twice a day.

dry food, its what they gave us to give him when we were fostering him before adopting so stuck with it and seems to be good

My daughter’s 2 year old dog eats dry kibble with some freshly cooked protein and veggies.

My elderly Shih Tzu has only 3 teeth and stage 3/4 kidney disease. So I feed him a special organic dry food that you mix with hot water until it softens. It has healthy grains, veggies, fruit, iron etc. I add either extra virgin olive oil or coconut oil, and freshly cooked protein to it as directed. His health has greatly improved since and I’m super happy about it

Thanks @Wave !!!

Does any one here feed their dogs grain free dog foods?
There is supposedly heart health issues with grain free dog food but the evidence is shabby

I’ve read that too. I think grains are healthy in moderation. Too much of anything can be bad.

That said, some dogs have issues with grains so there’s a place for grain free foods

Ive tried grain free before i figured out my dogs allergy was chicken. Beyond that i have never concerned myself with it

My dog is allergic to chicken too @Moon
Also salmon and lamb

The only protein he tolerates is turkey

I want to feed my dog this grain free wet dog food but I’m worried about the DCM risk (heart issues)
My dog loves this food and he does well on it. No allergies
