For those disabled; do you count your hobby as your career regardless of pay?

just wondering if there are many of you that consider your career or what you do most days in productivity as what you do for a living?

I do volunteer work for a few hours at my cricket club. I’ve a great understanding of maintaining grounds and equipment and an advanced knowledge of preparing a turf wicket. I know I could turn that into a career with some contacts I’ve made through the years but it’s just not on the agenda. I don’t want a job it’s too complicated.

I do say sometimes I’m a part time groundskeeper which isn’t too far off the mark!

Actually, yes!

So in previous years when I didn’t leave my house [often] I found a way to make a little money by baking and decorating cakes from home, face painting at festivals and maintaining vacant cottages in my neighbourhood. I did it very sparingly. Maybe each of these I only did a few times a year.
Now I have more confidence to do these things and have made them legitimate businesses that I work at on a more full time basis. I also have the freedom to choose when I work and when to take a break so I don’t burn out or relapse.

I’m very proud of my business. I hope to one day be as big (or bigger) than CLRM air CanadaStays

And now that I’ve said that my immediate thought is “well that’s grandiose of you”

I program mobile apps and have published over 40 apps in the past five years. I don’t make much money on them but they make me think more in a structured and creative fashion. My energy levels go up and down because of schizoaffective but often I find I can channel a lot of my energies into making apps on the days I am manic.

I also sometimes promote and sell my dad’s art. Again, it doesn’t make much money but I enjoy learning about photography and marketing techniques. I did an art show at a local cafe for him about two years ago that was really well received. The reception was great and a lot of family members attended.

I published a song on YouTube that gets a few paid downloads on iTunes and Amazon now and then.

I think it’s good to dream big, especially if the process of getting there is sometimes fun. Right now, I am rereading the “7 Habits” book by Steven Covey and find it more inspiring now that I am older and hopefully have my symptoms under better control.

I’m a housewife that cooks, bakes, cleans…takes care of home. I totally consider like a job. Cleaning toilets isn’t fun, but if ya want baked goods, it’s my stress relief and cooking, too.i also exercise 5 days a week to help with health and anxiety. And most importantly, I’m in charge of taking care of two rescue dogs…sometimes I don’t know who rescued who…

I used to put “musician” under career when I was on Facebook.

I don’t spend that much time on my music anymore.

Nobody ever gets paid for the other stuff I do
