What's your occupation?

Everyone needs an occupation. I neglected to practice guitar and mandolin today and didn’t do anything but sleep and watch YouTube videos. I would like to write but I have no internal monologue and my mind draws a blank. I hope to get to sleep by 12 midnight. I’m depressed but hate the weird feelings I get from antidepressants, the pain is morphed into something mental.

I used to work in banking in mainframe computer support before I got sick. I started out on the mailroom and went to night vocational technical school to learn Business Computer Programming back in the late 1970’s.

I have no occupation anymore. I’m on disability. I have had various occupations throughout my life however.

I do however do occasional electrical work for friends and family. I also sell some things on a couple internet sites.

I play guitar, percussion and listen to music on Spotify. I also cook, wash dishes and run the vacuum cleaner. I take a shower twice a week and brush my teeth every day. I have enough going on in my life to keep me busy enough.

Did different things.

Academic research. Project management in health care. Now I volunteer. I can’t do project management anymore. My executive functions took too hard a blow. Also, I tend to dislike certain people who drift to the top…like my old manager at a homeless shelter, where I worked a really short time…he always drove up the homeless shelter terrain in his expensive cabrio, bragged about his luxurious second home, couldnt say so much as a hi to his secretary or anyone he deemed beneath him, and fired everyone who was too critical. I couldnt continue there. For this and other reasons.

So now I volunteer in two places I really like. With nice and idealistic bosses. I am a mum. And also running my daily life and recovering take up a lot of time.
