Foodie thread - take 4

It looks like no one else has started a food porn thread, so here y’all go!:grin::grin:

Tonight I went super easy. I made a meat sauce from store bought spaghetti sauce (normally make my own) and a pound of ground chuck. Tossed with rigatoni and served with crushed red pepper and a parmesan & romano cheese blend. Tasty :yum::yum::yum:

Debating which large meal I should make next. I have a few new recipes I want to try. Hmm  one of the new recipes would be quite cheap to make, beef noodle casserole, and I’m trying to trim expenses for the moment, eating some cheaper food.

Speaking of which, maybe I should look for beans and rice recipes. Any suggestions for such a dish? I don’t have an instant pot or anything like that.

Large lima beans with a ham bone (we usually get the bone in spiral cut ham and eat the ham as sandwich meat) (you’d be surprised how much meat is on a ham bone)

As sides/mix in pan fried thin sliced potatoes and corn bread soooo good with all 3 mixed together (one of my favorite meals right there)

I forgot to add you just throw the beans and ham bone into the crockpot or instant pot

Thanks @Twialine :slightly_smiling_face:, though I really was thinking of more of a beans & rice dish, like maybe I could buy some dry pinto beans and cook them with rice. Idk what to use as seasonings.

Yeah, spicy is good.

@freakonaleash okay red pepper flakes with salt, black pepper, chicken stock and maybe some other spices?? In the south we use a lot of salt and pepper and you can even throw in some chicken

I wonder if curry powder would be good.

Maybe I’ll look for a recipe for “pasta fazool,” or however that’s spelled. That would also be good and nutritious, while still being quite inexpensive. If you’ve never had it, it’s an Italian dish, pasta and beans cooked in broth with seasonings and such.
