I live on huel but want to change it up as it is a Ultra processed food! It contains xanthan gum and though some science says it is not harmful to health, i have read other reports that stabilisers aren’t good either.
I have found an alternative to Huel called Puriton which isn’t nutritionally complete like huel is but from their blog it makes out huel is just bulk foods shipped from China with chemicals added. ( Is Purition nutritionally complete? | Blog | Purition – Purition UK
So the puriton shakes are healthy ground food and as part of a balanced diet it should work out ok.
I can’t be bothered to cook these days and as being a coeliac the food I buy is 3 times the price of the gluten diet i came across Field Doctor Field Doctor - Feed Your Health who provide healthy prepped food with low salt, gluten free low fat etc. The problem is that it is £7 a meal.
All I need to do is microwave it, so saves on cooking time. I get a wide array of dishes, Guaranteed gluten free and healthy too. I reckon even if i bought unprepared gluten free food which is often cross contaminated, it won’t be much cheaper given the cost of cooking etc.
Being a tight wad I am reluctant to buy it. I contacted huel and they gave me a massive 50% refund on my last order which came to £100, so I reckon I’ll use it up and then switch to healthier diet regimen.
If money wasn’t so tight I wouldn’t hesitate to do it.
Do you think paying £12-13 a day on food is too much?
