Flying for fun

The flying club I joined sold the light sport aircraft. The one you just need a drivers license to fly. So that was a waste of money. Somebody had a prop strike with it.

So I scheduled a flight in a Piper Warrior 3 on June 4th. I don’t have a medical but I will be with an instructor so I don’t think they are going to say anything.

I tried getting signed off on Basic Med to fly regular airplanes a few months ago and I listed all my meds but said I just had PTSD. The doctor almost signed me off but she said she wanted a letter from my doctor so I got my therapist at the VA to write me a letter I was stable on meds.

Well he added that I was undergoing treatment for schizophrenia but I didn’t say anything because I didn’t want him to know what the letter was for at the time. I told him it was for a work physical.

Well the doctor doing the physical saw the Sz word and said I was disqualified and didn’t sign me off but now I am thinking I can get my PDoc at the VA to change my diagnosis and I will try again. I see him in July and I am straight up going to ask him if he thinks I can fly. I drive every day.

Sounds like a plan. I would have thought if you were stable and signed off on my a doctor it shouldn’t be an issue! Strange thing red tape though…hope you get to fly soon!

I am so sorry to hear about the light aircraft being sold, that would be a real bummer. :frowning:

Wishing you luck with your doc! If I’m allowed to drive school buses as an SZ I can’t imagine why you can’t fly a small plane.
