I had a 10 minute play in a black box production showcase directed by this guy…
I was also part of a group… Devising a piece of theatre as part of a group run by the same guy…
The 10 minutes play I wrote had elements of mental health and my fears around race and fears around what people think I think about race
This guy said to me which seemed like it was in all honesty and friendliness that he " was so glad he wasn’t that person " ( A woman rough sleeping and delusional )
Thing is the woman in the play was me … He knows this … Looking back on it did he mean I’m glad I’m not you i’m glad I’m not like you ?
I don’t think so, the guy also says stuff like why would you want to do anything else other than open your heart to the world in theatre
He is basically a top bloke
I’ve been obsessing for two days now which isn’t very long because of obsessions like this can run to many months or years
I don’t want this kind of self-doubt it’s really crushing
The play was produced in a theatre… It has also been published by lazy bee scripts…
If I was such a terrible person this wouldn’t have happened right?
Thank you for this.
I remember a couple of other things he said, like what a wealth to have those experiences. I can’t remember what he said, but the opportunity of being able to remember and etc etc. draw from it I guess…
He is a uniquely amazing talent and someone I have that much respect for wouldn’t say something like that to harm me, or in any bad sense.
you are ’ over ’ thinking…what happened, and over analzing…
look what you are achieving…
you are interacting with people…successfully
amazing…
good on you.
take care
I agree with darksith, I think you’re over analyzing the situation.
How do you know for a fact that he knew the woman in the play was you?
Perhaps he was just stating he was happy he didn’t have sleeping problems.
I agree with bipolar bear, you’re reading too deep into his intentions…he was just stating that he realizes what you must have gone through…almost kind of a compliment to saying kudos to you for overcoming what you went through.
You’re attaching too much meaning to what he said-fishing for compliments and finding they backfire. In Recovery International we say: “Nervous persons are good observers of behavior but poor interpreters.”.
If you want to read that into it it’s your beer
Thanks for responses
What?
Endorse yourself for your efforts in the theater.
Maybe “fishing for compliments” is wrong. In Recovery we say:“Nervous persons see intention where there is only accident.”
Agreed
Thx
