Fasting my improve or reverse your Type 2 diabetes

I’m doing the 16:8 fasting where you only eat Noon to 8pm, fasting otherwise.

@LilyoftheValley Since you have lost all the weight, and I came across a post from awhile ago that you had type2, did the weight loss reverse it?

It didn’t for me.

My last A1C was 5.5. So my dr took me off glipizide and is having me take half of my other medicine Metformin. If my A1C is still good at my next checkup, my dr will take me off Metformin too.

But, when I first started losing weight, my diabetes got worse. We don’t know why. But it did end up coming down so don’t give up

I got down to 72kg, and now i am back to 76.3kg even on a 1600 calorie daily diet.

I won’t be able to lose it until I change meds, I’m afraid.

I’m not diabetic, but I have insulin resistance due to having PCOS. I did a lot of intermittent fasting a couple years ago and it made my insulin levels normal again. But now that I don’t do it anymore and just do limited calories, my insulin levels are too high again.

My dietician told me to stop, really messed up my blood sugar. Now I space small snacks throughout the day and its bang on.

Thanks MrSquirrel.

LS! I reversed my diabetes type two. For three and a half years now I fast Thursdays and Sundays. My weight went from 160 kilo to 132 kilo to 138 again. Also I exercise daily for almost three years now. But I am off metformin. Every three month there is a bloodtest at my GP, next Thursday again.

Glad to hear it @agentmulderfbi. I’m hoping to accomplish the same thing.

Both my parents have type 2. I haven’t got it yet despite the olanzapine. I do find if I eat late at night before bed I turn out hungry in the morning despite how much I ate the day before. So I avoid it cause if I am hungry in the early morning it forces me to get out of bed and I feel like a zombie in the am.

Thanks AndrewJohn.

When I fast for a long time I end up eating a lot right after. Its like a crash and low blood glucose maybe.

Thanks @Aziz. I’m fasting 16 hours a day which includes the time I am sleeping. It’s not bad at night, but this morning I was feeling somewhat weak.

I also tend to nap more if I don’t eat during a whole day. I did it 2 days ago.
