more debilitating that the remnants of my schizophrenia at this point. I have been taking several naps a day lately and I’m pretty sure the majority of it is due to worsening diabetes.
Between, diabetes, meds, schizophrenia and my age, I’m just getting the crap kicked out of me by fatigue lately. I think diabetes is the biggest factor though.
Some advice: Don’t get it. It blows to be exhausted every few hours.
Dude diabetes runs in my family i got diabetes on june 15th and it was from a poor diet… excerise and eat better best advice for u…i didnt do it and thats why i got it i think
You are going to have to alter your diet or go on insulin, otherwise, you will really physically damage your body and go into DKA or get pancreatitis. I say this with love. High blood sugars cause so much damage. Take care of yourself!
Thanks @anon55031185 . I’m trying altering my diet significantly now. But I also have an appointment with doc to discuss options. I’m working on getting it under control.
That’s good you are doing something about it. I don’t want you to become debilitated from it. It’s a nasty disease to have. The sooner it’s controlled the better!
I feel for you @Bowens as my great grandma and her son, my grandpa basically died from diabetes. My cousin is on an insulin pump since nine years old so it is for sure in my family.
Think positively. I have Sz, diabetes, and now a heart problem (Grade II Diastolic Disfunction). It’s where my heart muscle doesn’t relax completely after contracting from years of high blood pressure.
I know this sounds strange, but it is helpful if you exercise after eating. It will naturally help lower your sugars if they are high. I know you feel sleepy when they are high, but it’s better to do some kind of exercise to help lower it, rather than take a nap. It is a way to help lower the numbers.
Read an awesome article in Science News magazine today that talked about Cone Snails. Apparently when they sting they release a fast acting insulin along with their venom. The current insulin is slow acting but the chemical results of Cone Snail insulin looks promising to researchers.
