Any of y’all contracted diabetes due to medication messing with your insulin levels?
I had prediabetes but it’s gone now.
I became type 2 on Zyprexa. In march 2019 stopped the zyprexa cold turkey, and then ended up in ER because the insulin shut down my kidneys. They had me on 140 units of Lantis a day. I stopped the insulin all APs and went from 242lbs down to 130lbs in less than a year no change in diet or exercise.
I cannot go on any drugs that cause weight gain at all. So since I’ve run the gambit we just keep upping my Xanax and I stay at home doing nothing. I live a useless life.
But maybe in May I can be seen by pain.management and life may be worth living again.
My blood sugar levels have shot thru the roof.
Seroquel.
Weaned myself off, now just waiting for it to level out.
LS! I have diabetes type two. It is almost gone. I was diagnosed with diabetes about five years ago. I am on Risperidone. I was 56 years old and had a weight of 160 kilo (352 pounds) and did not exercise. The weight gain was mostly caused by thyroid malfunctioning. I was forcibly admItted in a psychiatrical hospital and there I gained the weight. Two and a half years ago I started intermittent fasting (not eating Thursdays and Sundays) and two years ago I started daily exercising. My weight is now 300 pounds and my diabetes is almost gone.
Abilify increased my sugar levels. I take metformin to combat that now.
I have PCOS, and mine mimics type 2 diabetes so well that I have to take metformin.
I cannot be on any medication that causes weight gain, as that makes the PCOS worse, which in return fuels the weight gain
I eat very healthy to hopefully mitigate the metabolic effects of the medication. I still have to get bloodwork done to check though. Hopefully having a healthy bmi will help prevent me from contracting diabetes.
