Exercising more for the mental benefits or physical?

I feel better mentally if I go on walks or use my exercise bike. I find if I exercise more for the mental benefits, I don’t get so sidetracked and pressured about losing weight.

How about you? Do you exercise? And if you do, do you do it more for the mental or physical benefits?

i guess you could say i do it for the mental benefits, which is mostly tiring myself out, so im not so anxious but relaxed throughout the day. right now i walk about 3 miles a day. will start lifting soon as well. i always start then get sore and stop.

I find it difficult to decide!
Mental part I defo notice. It gets me out the house and I feel like I’ve achieved something.
Physically I know movement is important for the circulation, bones lymph system etc.

So I really don’t know which is more important I think it’s a tie.

Yeah big believer in it. I’m sleeping way less and have halved my antidepressant. All I’m doing differently is exercising. It really has made a big difference to my mental health. I think your onto something my friend.

Thanks bud!

I don’t exercise as frequent as I should, but just recently I’m making an effort to make it more of a routine.

In fact I just got through doing a thirty minute workout on my bike.

I did a little exercising this afternoon, and I am not nearly as strong as I used to be. I might try to regain some of my old strength.

Keep at it! :+1:

If you don’t have any weight equipment, calisthenics are an excellent way to get in shape.

Physical benefits right now. The bottom line is that my heart isn’t healthy enough to support me being fat. I’m working hard to get to a healthy weight for this reason.

Slowly getting there.

Wishing you well on the path to a healthier heart.

I’m on a statin med for high triglycerides. I’m hoping through exercise I can get off it in the future.

So far this year I’ve disappeared my diabetes and I’ve been able to drop a blood pressure med through weight loss. I’m about 1/3 of the way to my goal.

Congratulations! You’ll get there. :+1:

LS! More for the physical part really. I am 62 and according to the website Strengthlevel I have Elite Fitness for several muscle groups. I overcame my diabetes and high blood pressure.

That’s awesome you overcame your illnesses! Good job.

I’m trying to lead a more active lifestyle. I’m almost at the age where health problems tend to pop up.
