Exercise bike,weight gain,discouraged

I am rather discouraged that my weight has gone up 4.6 lbs(2.09 kgs) since starting the sessions on the exercise bike. Whilst not expecting to lose much weight just by going on the exercise bike I hadn’t expected to be gaining weight!

Sometimes this would happen to me initially then as I keep going I’d start losing weight, I’m not sure about the science behind it though…

You might have gained muscle and not lost much fat. If you eat less calories than you burn you will lose weight, but gaining muscle is good.

You’re just gaining muscle. That’s good. It means you’ll burn calories faster. Try to worry about measurements instead of weight. That will give you a more accurate picture of your progress. On a bike, your legs should get bigger and the rest of you should get smaller.

That’s supposedly Common. You start building you muscle mass back up before burning fat when you start exercising. Your body wants healthy muscles but doesn’t what to give up it’s stockpiled Emergency Fuel Supply (Fat).

That’s put me off straight away. The thought of being muscular is off putting to me. I want to exercise for better fitness ,not to be more muscular.

It’s only natural for one to produce muscle when you exercise.

You won’t look like a super jock from aerobic exercise. It will just make your body more efficient.

Big sigh of relief. I am already 243.6 lbs as of today and really don’t want to pile on the lbs.

Am trying to eat a little less to go along with the exercising. That worked for me initially at first, before the weight loss tailed off.
What I don’t want to do is religiously go down the route of calorie counting everything.

Just do it it’s consistency if you wanna lose that weight judge by the mirror not just the scales

Can gain mass with muscle building. Tends to increase weight when your starting of with exercise. Try not to be so hard on yourself.

I recently gave up sugar because I didn’t like the way I craved it. It’s really hard at first and you can’t cut it all out. But I lost 15 lbs. In two months without working out. Feal better to.

I’m still overweight, but I’m also apparently adding muscle. My wife commented that my thighs are really starting to build out because of the amount of climbing up and down things I do at work:

Exercise always pays off.
