Exercise and Weight Loss Group

@Truemist8 personal trainers are bs I think. I’d much rather listen to my own body than pay someone to spit out stuff for me to do.

Plus we have the internet, I’ve been on it so long I know every single exercise out there, the functions, etc by heart.

But yeah, it’s kinda like the comparing yourself to others, being bad. It’s you vs you. Following someone else’s routine instead of one you make yourself can be outright dangerous

I had a yoga instructor get angry at me for no reason, a piano teacher trying to force me to do better. I went kickboxing for nearly 2 years while working was the best for me even if I didn’t know it at the time… just keep trying till you find something that works. That’s what my pdoc said!

I feel the same, but also there are no gyms that are easy for me to get to. I really like Joanna Soh as a personal trainer, she’s on youtube and she’s really encouraging. here’s a link to her channel:

So sad as really slack on weights lately with unheated shed. We went through a winter blast and yes…I’m totally lightweight but I’m used to heat out here. Anyways. Kept a couple of 15kg dumbells inside so been doing bodyweight and simple weight bearing exercise but really haven’t got into the weights which sux.

I’ve been running though when it gets to the afternoons so doing good. Getting up early and jogging on the spot in front of the heater and getting the heartrate up. My jogs in the afternoons my heart rate is so good…rarely get to peak over 2km which is like just over a mile. It’s working…feeling fit but we need some better weather or a heated shed!

As too the weight loss still doing good on the lo carb. Lots or rubbish out there that it’s not sustainable but keto and medical keto and all that is rubbish. Just adjust to you and your eating styles and eat healthy…it’s all about eating healthy even on lo carb/keto. I never went overboard on fat intake but try to eat more than carbs and protein combined but these days eat a bit more protein…whatever works for you peeps but it’s so worthwhile exploring for mental health in my book.

I could actually say I’m proud of you @rogueone. Sustaining a diet and exercising and quitting smoking. These are things that are really becoming hard on me right now. I feel defeated with these. But I see you achieving these things. Thanks for sharing some of your success. And I know you also mentioned how you used the medication to stop smoking. Thanks for showing me a way.

Yeah my shrink is pretty good and he suggested the chantix. I was dubious as usual but it worked so well but lesson learned is that it’s so frigging hard to give up that accessing any avenue available is worthwhile.

It’s translated years later with diet…I always played competitive cricket so I was exercising but appropriate diet was good and worthwhile till I got the advice about that whole keto thing…it’s worked well too..

Lesson learned. You get a good psydoc you do what you can to keep with them and you work your ass off moving forward to your goals…and nicotine delivery systems are so expensive and dubious out here these days…and diet is achievable for most who use these boards.

Hang in there and years ago I wanted to move on and improve myself…it’s been a journey but taking those first steps are so worthwhile. They really are and I guess I’m proof of some of that.

@POET I love jump roping, I’ve been doing it on one leg and stuff too lately good ■■■■

My energy is low on these reps as my cardio has been high, loved the idea of curling and overhead pressing on my knees though

did almost a full workout today, but had to skip bench incline with dumbells, and i had to replace pull ups with some kind of exercise with a resistance band, that was kinda too easy. But i did 30 bench dips, which at my weight was super challenging. Feel like i’ve had a good thorough workout. this is also day 3 of following the vegan meal plan, havn’t cheated yet

I was vegan years ago. My blood work, blood pressure and resting heart rate were all excellent on that diet.

yeah, its meant to be really good for the heart and arteries and it’s good for losing weight too. i’ve tried to stick to it before , but ended up eating meat again, that’s why the structure of a meal plan by a nutritionist makes it easier.
