Exercice and schizophrenia

How is it possible to have motivation to make some physical activity ?

Do you have to make any efforts?

Does it has any impact on negative symptoms ?

It takes a little effort for me to get started, but when I do I have no problem finishing. I always feel better after.

If there is something I want to do, then I do it, even without proper motivation. I might stop half-way through, exhausted and disappointed, but at least I almost always get started.
All the little efforts pay off eventually so long as you keep trying and stay positive.

Saying you won’t exercise because there’s no motivation is like putting the cart before the horses. Motivation and energy are reinforced by exercising. Start with zero, end up hero.

Yes it helps with both. It’s good for food general health. It’s not everything though.

I have to talk myself into walking every day and I don’t always. Maybe meds might make you groggy!

I dont succeed at regular sports. Motivation + fatigue + busy schedule.

I have no car so I walk a lot. And I have work where I stand and move a bit. I think this helps me.

I exercise but it’s not as fluent and effortless as before medication. Being on a low dose 2.5mg aripiprazole helps but doesn’t make it normal.

I have to limit my exercise to slow movement like walking cuz I have the QTc prolongation and I get out of breath easily. My doc is going to try and switch me to Lybalvi next week, if that doesn’t help the cardiac problems I may need to get an internal defibrillator. I really hope they don’t have to do that. I’m really missing swimming at the local pool like I did last year before this started.

I can’t handle exercising because I am depressed and stressed out from being lonely and not having enough to do. One time I tried to jog and I had to stop because I couldn’t handle it.

I’ve never had motivation to do anything. If you asked most people if they felt like working they would say no. There’s no motivation to work just discipline.

I can’t handle working for the same reason. Yes a lot of people don’t want to work but they make themselves because they are stronger mentally. Even if you don’t have a mental illness, people get tired of working out because they get sick of it. There is exceptions. You can like or love to work out….also you can exercise by playing a sport. Those two things can make you exercise consistently over a long period of time.

I go the easy route. I do yoga, and walk on occasion.

It is possible to join low cost groups/watch videos on youtube to get motivation to exercise.

I wish my meds made me groggy! That would be nice! And I’m on a lot of meds.

i dont have it but ive found if i put on music and can get myself to just start pacing to it in my place i can work that up to being a little faster, than to jumping, and exercise that way. but i dont do it often. need to do it more.

I’ve found that doing plyometrics combined with running about two miles a day is the best way for me to get endorphins in my system. I don’t know if it works like that for everyone, though.
