Everything happens for a reason

everything happens for a reason…

any theories on this one?

is everything planned out in advance

and should we just trust in a good outcome for us?

hard questions i think,

I wish. I think this is just something people say to make themselves feel better. At least those that survive the thing say it, those that don’t, don’t.

we are all survivors in a way, thats what makes us unique, got to think positive

what i was pondering was the fact that some people here say that the reason that they have sz is bc they have been cursed by God or something but if that is true (and we have all probably pondered this on occasion) then we need to ask ourselves why would God choose for us to have sz?

now remember God knows everything about everything, he knows how many hairs are on our head, he knows what we did last tuesday and indeed what we are going to do next tuesday, and so on and so on (we could go on forever)

so if he knew we were going to have sz why couldnt he sort of edit that part of our destiny out to stop us from getting sz, well the answer is quite simple ‘he is testing us’ because he knows we are strong and through sz we show a lot of strength,

it takes great strength to get through each day. we show real courage in the face of adversity, we are brave because we keep on trying and never give up,

No , it doesnt I persume , you have heard about the nature of war , poverty , disease and general misfortune

Hard to say. It depends on what your belief system is. The theory has been argued before. You got the school of thought that believes everything is pre-determined. My personal opinion is that even though I’m not a big believer in religion or magic or Bigfoot for that matter, I’ve had many times in my life where It struck me that at that exact time, I was right where I was supposed to be and that no matter what I had done in the past or how I had lived my life I would have ended up exactly where I was at that point. That’s an example of pre-determination.

is pre-determinism an actual philosophy? i never wondered that before 'going to google it

omg this goes a lot deeper than i actually thought  i think its too much to take in now, so much attached to this than meets the eye, if i get wrapped up in this i could have a melt down so i need to be careful

could anyone with prior knowledge please educate me on this : :v:

I agree with nick…I do believe in an omnipotent God. It took a while for me to distinguish between God helping me out, and God making me Jesus. I haven’t stopped believing in the all powerfulness of God and that I would end up in the right spot at the right time for a reason. And have things happen for a reason. Some people may think it’s psychosis to link that stuff to God or something…honestly it drove me crazy thinking about it for a while. But now I’m on meds and I still have strange coincidences and I chalk it up as God helping me out. Not God wanting me to be Jesus, but God helping me out. I’m not a victim of circumstance right now, so I don’t need to be the chosen one anymore. But I need/want to be happy. And I credit God for that. Woo what a burden relieved off your head when you stop believing you’re the Chosen one!

Have you read The Bridge of San Luis Rey by Thornton Wilder? It’s about a monk who sought to demonstrate that five people killed in a bridge collapsed had all led full lives, all presided over personally by God. Such a beautiful book.

Some say that we shall never know, and that to the gods we are like the flies that the boys kill on a summer’s day, and some say, to the contrary, that the very sparrows do not lose a feather that has not been brushed away by the finger of God.

I’m a strong believer in the sparrows not losing a feather without being brushed away from God. Do I have proof? Some. I have some pretty convincing stories, but my stories aren’t going to convince others that we are not just bugs to God. It’s a sensitive subject.

My faith helps me out a lot I believe. Beautiful passage btw.

@turningthepage i think that is great that you overcame that delusion of being Christ, i think a lot of people feel like that in someway with this disease (that they are something they are not) and also to keep that relasionship with God, that shows great strength, strength through suffering thats what i am talking about, we tread where people do not dare to go and we come out the other side with a greater understanding :trophy:

@Rhubot that is very poignant, that passage sounds very spiritual in a way, i dont like the idea of being like flies, i believe that God loves us more than that.

Thornton Wilder agreed with you. It’s a very good little novel.

i’m not very literate to be honest, never a big fan of books and never had the patience for them, i am trying to read something just now and trying to understand it but it is very complex, i meet with my friends to study and it really fills me with strength, i just figured one day ‘i need all the help i can get’ and thats what started me off haha

sorry off topic a little

We also have heard when tragic event strikes it is just because someone happens to be in the wrong place and at the wrong time.

I think you probably mean everything happens for a purpose.

I don’t think you mean everything is caused.

everything does happen for a reason, it could be planned by someone and the outcome would depend on there reasoning, im not exactly sure what you mean by advanced, if by a god I have absolutely no idea, but YOU can materialize thoughts into matter and so much more…
