Electricity Bills

How can an electric bill go from £14 per month, to £35 per month and now they say they want £77 per month and I owe them £400!

Does anyone understand electricity bills as they make the bill so confusing and I really cannot afford to pay them all this money as things are tight as it is.

I am not going to be able to heat my home next winter if this happens. I live alone in a one bedroom flat and this was the first year I used my heaters on timer.

I don’t understand this at all

When is the last time you switched energy supplier? If you go on comparethemarket.com you can compare energy deals and get the best one which is for you. I aim to do that every 2 or 3 years now. I pay £70 a month for both my gas and electric and I live in a 2 bedroom house.

I switched last year in August. The problem is they tell me if I switched I have to pay them £400 plus £30 exit fee.

I am going to have to stay with them and reduce the debt as I cannot afford to pay it at once.

I just don’t understand how it has been so cheap then so expensive. I mis-understand the idea of something being fixed I think.

Do you have a gas boiler or electric?

Everything is electric in my flat. The heaters I have were supposed to work out the same as storage heaters and be more efficient as they only heat rooms you spend time in.

I think I will not use them on timer again as this has caused a bit of an issue.

I have energy saving lightbulbs and everything I own electronics/appliances wise is A rated for efficiency.

Have you not payed any of your bills while you have been with them? Because £400 for 7 months is not that bad.
