I’m gonna start Thiothixene again, it’s the only one that has helped without bad side effects.
All the older AP’s make me feel very bad. I’m never going to take them again. If they send me to the hospital they can make me take them, but as soon as they turn their back I’ll be off them.
I’ve been on Thiothixene since 1972. At first I was really bothered by stiffness in my neck and shoulders but it went away after time and I think these days they have something better than the Cogentin I was given for that.
Compared to the horror stories I’ve heard about side effects of the newer AP’s I’d say it’s been a very good medicine for me. But I’ve always been on what I’m told is a low dose of it.
Yeah it worked very well at 2mg. It was the best I’d been on, and I’ve tried Abilify, Zyprexa, Resperidone, Ivega, and Ceroquel.
I take haldol it’s really old, I’m on a low dosage but I like it especially the price.
I am on Chlorpromazine (Thorazine) all the other antipsychotics make me feel restless except Olanzapine. I am prone to having restless legs which is made worse by most antipsychotics.
Chlorpromazine is different from all the other antipsychotics in that that it blocks all the dopamine receptors and not just D2, that means after being being on it about 6 months, one starts to lose interest in things because they are no longer pleasurable, and also chlorpromazine make me fat.
I take a low dose of Haldol in addition to the Abilify injection. The Haldol makes it a little bit harder to wake up in the morning, but that’s the only side effect I’ve had from it. I haven’t had the muscle stiffness I was warned about, but then I’m taking only 1 mg twice a day.
Navane was the first Antipsychotic I was put on.
To be Honest it dampened my Emotions a bit too much (Zombie Effect) and it made my left hand curl back in a ball (EPS).
But I think that I was on a pretty High dose at the time.
On the plus side it killed my symptoms.
37 years on a small dose of haldol.
my shrink, the one who did my therapy, would keep me in 2mg trilafon for when i had a mood swing, that’s an old one. short acting too. the old phenolthysines work better for psychotic mania, particularly stelazine, then the atypicals. except abilify, perhaps, but that’s more bipolar people. at least, i never had a doctor suggest raising my abilify when i was manic.
I take flupentixol
