Does anyone collect vinyls/records

I bought a turntable. I want to start a vinyl collection. My local HMV sells them.

Oh how the tables have turned!

My uncle still have a couple dozens vinyl discs. But the device for playing them is broken. I’d try to convince him to sell or donate them, but he can’t be reasoned with. Some of those discs are almost as old as him (soon to be 77).

I don’t “collect” vinyl but I do buy records I like.

I think record collectors have ramped up the prices and made certain records impossible to get. Also they care about which pressings the records are.

If I find a record I like I buy it. I have about a 100 vinyl records.

I used to buy reggae music but it’s getting harder to get so now I mostly buy rock music.

I have a collection. Most of it is bought second hand. There’s a used vinyl store in the city, with good selection and nice prices.

Sometimes I’ll go to thrift stores and flip through their vinyl selection.

I used to and dj with them. Its been years since I bought one. I moved on to other hobbies. But I still got my collection and my turntables in a nice set up. I cherish that time in my life and I probably get less money for it than the value of the nostalgia for me.

I love vinyl…the sound…the fact that one lp side is around 20 minutes, so you get a natural break, and I love the big cover art, also that it’s analogue media. The vinyl shop is like a adult toy shop :slightly_smiling_face:

My partner has a ton of vinyls. I have a few from my favorite artists.

my spouse collects music on vinyl. his collection is pretty impressive, thousands of albums. they fill our living room and there’s always a problem to find more space for the records.

I also love to listen vinyls… I have got my fav bands’ full discographies on vinyl. if I buy new music it’s always on vinyl. I love the sound and the album artwork. sometimes I buy the record I like digitally as well, so I can listen to it when I’m not home.

I don’t like spotify or things like that, I think an album should be listened as that, a whole experience. from start to finish, in the correct order.
