Why did you stop it?

I feel like my attention, focus have drastically improved in two doses. It is like a miracle happening right before my eyes.

I still had breakthrough symptoms so wanted to try different medications but I regret coming off it

I see. What do you take now then?

I’m on clozapine but I’m not well they can’t increase dose for risk of fits so now they put me on lamatrogine anti seizure medication

I see. Clozapine is a tough medication. I wish you the best.

i tried amisulpride 800 mg /day and it helped me to lower positive symptoms (delusions) and made me stable. but it caused sedation all day and worsen my negative symptoms (motivation)

Back when i had amisulpride it killed my libido dead! No thanks…

But, I take Abilify with it which lowers my prolactin. There are also other medicines you can take that lower prolactin.

I was on 800mg Amisulpride for about 4 years

It worked well in that time, but never solved the anxiety that my pdoc decided was driven by residual psychosis

They upped it to 1.2g a day for a few months, but then it messed with my QTc levels, and I was taken off of it

A good med I found, but just wasn’t to be

The doctor tried to lower my prolactin with 5mg Abilify, but that didn’t work unfortunately.

But we’re all different, and one persons experience isn’t necessarily what the other person might have.

If the healthcare - specifically mental health care - is in disarray where you live due to lack of funding, then I would suggest you definitely get them to do as regular ECGs as you need. Also, checking prolactin is important, but not as important as your heart!

You need to ensure where you can that the GP practise helps with the physical stuff as well as letting the head meds do their work…

Another thing it did was raise cholesterol - and I went on statins for a year or so. But… then that messed with my liver, and they we stopped too

:person_shrugging:

No med is perfect by any stretch, and trial and error reigns king in MH treatments.

I really hope this is the med that will help you, but try and watch out these things I have said, to at least get the proper monitoring in place.

These drugs are not tic tacs and you have to be on the ball.

Some practitioners would love for me to give up and stay in bed the rest of my life, but I refuse to fall into the narrative I was sold when I first got diagnosed years ago.

If you want a life, I firmly believe Amisulpride was one of the better meds I had been on, but tinkering with it led to its downfall.

Wish you best of luck with it

That is a comprehensive answer. I really appreciate it.

Apart from Abilify there are other prolactin lowering drugs as well.

Did you try them? My old pdoc (a Columbia University psychiatrist) told me not to worry about prolactin as there are other medications apart from Abilify which can also lower prolactin.

I didn’t try anything else apart from Abilify to lower prolactin

To be honest, I was more worried about it than my pdoc

He said it was high, but not to worry

Don’t remember the levels, apart from it being the same as a person pregnant in the third trimester

Seemed high to me
