No, I just figured I’ve had the world’s worst cold for the last 38 years. I just figured the doctors made a mistake when they put me in my first group home. Then they made another mistake when they locked me up in the hospital for 8 months. That one kind of mystified me, I’ll have to admit.
Their next mistake was putting me in my second group home for a year. I told them, “All I need is a tissue and I’ll be OK.” But their next error was having me live in supportive housing for 5 years. I got assigned a psychiatrist who started to agree with me but then he changed his mind and told me, "Yeah, a cold sounds possible but not very plausible but I agree the problems you are having do seem to start in your nasal area so I think you’re close and gave me some medication I did not need. Then he slipped me some vitamin C under the table.
Now by this time it was 1990 and I moved into a board & Care home. By this time I was pissed off and I told them, "I will stay here if it makes you happy but put it in my chart that its under protest and I lived there 5 years.
The word “schizophrenic” popped up over the years in conversations but everybody just chuckled because I could not spell it let alone be one. IDK it’s always seemed strange over the years to be mislabeled.
