Do you watch TV?

I was trying to watch TV these times because I thought I was too weird for not watching it (mainly the news). What happens is that the news is just about negativity. Here in Brazil things work this way and I think in US is the same thing.

TV also doesn’t bring me pleasure anymore. If it’s anhedonia, I think it’s a good type of anhedonia. Any TV channel (cable and no cable), even those with documentaries, have just BS.

The ads are also bad things that make people buy stupid stuff.

TV is also damaging for your brain and general health. And we can include Netflix in it. Netflix numbs people as well because it’s easy to get caught watching series for a long period of time.

Even before my psychotic episode I was not watching TV anymore. I remember my roommate loved to watch Simpsoms and I hated it because I had to listen to the TV while I was reading. But I admit that for some time when I was suffering with negative symptoms, I would binge TV a lot. I would watch every Marvel and DC series on Netflix for hours during the day. But it would happen just for some couple of weeks and I would get back to studies or other activities.

Now I can’t stand watching TV. I don’t feel joy in doing it. TV can even make me have intrusive thoughts. It doesn’t make focus on anything (I think there is even a TED Talks that talks about negativity from TV that leads to unfocused people).

TV is crap nowadays. If it damages the brain of normal people, I can imagine that it can be even more damaging for people who have schizophrenia.

I mainly watch game shows on t.v. and occasionally the news

The news here in Greece are depressing… All about the financial crisis etc.

I’ve always thought TV was boring. Just sitting there, staring at a freaking screen just drives me absolutely insane. I’ll watch movies every now and then but that’s about it

I don’t watch TV (just tried to watch the news these days and thought it disgusting). When I want to have fun I watch some super heroes movies.

The news triggers me. I don’t watch it. Don’t watch much other tv either. Yesterday I had a Law and Order SVU marathon on but I wasn’t really paying attention. Today so far sitting in silence. Contemplating going to get a breakfast burrito.

Maybe turn the tube on later.

I have it on all the time, mostly news, the odd movie on the weekend, hard to stay focused on anything

I watch tv mainly in the evening. Since being here I’ve had less freeview channels to watch.

There’s usually nothing on TV I want to watch. When I do watch shows and movies they aren’t that interesting to me. I should spend my time in better ways.

Maybe going for a walk or reading a book.

I’m bad at keeping up with shows. I haven’t finished a show in over a year. There are plenty of things I want to watch though. Just have to work up the motivation (this sounds so sad now that I’m getting it out there).

I rarely watch it, but at the day treatment there is always the tv on and it seems to do good for the low functioning szs.

I grew up without TV because my parents believed it would kill our imaginations and inject our little developing brains with too much negativity.

My siblings and I are no better or worse than our peers who did grow up glued to the TV.

I wouldn’t say its great to just sit in front of the TV for hours and hours,

But its not bad to enjoy a few programs.

I watch TV during football season, but that’s pretty much it. If I watch TV or listen to the radio there’s a fair chance I’ll get “tangled” or have unwanted interactions. I just do other stuff.

I have a TV. I don’t think it even works though. But to answer your thread title, I don’t watch TV.

I’m more of a radio guy. :radio:
