Do you watch TV?

What I observe about people who watch the news is that it becomes what they talk about. My entire family watch TV a lot. They watch the news, soap operas and other programs. Their conversations most of the times are about what happened to such person in such neighborhood (such person may be killed for example), or they talk about politics (but they don’t about the great JFK’s speech, they talk about how bad is the economic crisis and how bad are politicians). And their conversations are just about what happened in TV. And there is a lot of misinformation and manipulation spread by TV programs.

Why would TV be good for people who have schizophrenia and are low functioning?

Its an easy, brainless distraction.

But it’s totally the contrary of what a person with schizophrenia needs, no matter if low functioning or high functioning. For those who are low functioning, it’s tremedously important to have stimulations. Instead of TV, it’s far better to go for a walk, or go to the supermarket, go to the gym, watch educational material (even about schizophrenia), read a book, go to the library, listen to music etc.

i virtually never watch tv. if i get an itching to watch something specific ill just look it up on the computer but thats very rare. i do watch orange is the new black whenever new seasons of that come out, but thats not on tv, its netflix/online

I just got through watching four hours of “Law and Order”. I also like to watch M.A.S.H., except that it’s hard for me to find an episode that I haven’t watched before.

I NEVER watch TV of any kind. Not news or shows or sports or anything. I haven’t for the last seven years since my son died. I just filled out a Nielsen questionnaire about my TV viewing and I told them that I never watch any TV.

I watch TV news for an hour and a half on week days at evening. I like it because I had severe cognitive dysfunction before and couldn’t understand TV at all. I feel good that now I can understand TV.

I sometimes watch other programs such as documentaries/educational ones and I enjoy them alot.

But I limit my TV viewing as little as possible to protect my eyes. That goes the same with the internet. They are bad for eyes.
