I don’t tip unless it’s mandatory, and I don’t feel the least bit guilty.

I pay so much for the meal, I can’t afford to pay a tip. Even if I paid little for a meal, I’d only pay a tip if I really liked the waiter waitress.

Here they charge as service charge, we should inform the bill not to be charged, if not required.

You know once I picked up a argument, when my friend left a tip and I took the tip, and waiter asked me, I said it was my balance shared amount.

I used to be so rude with people, Now I am scared to even talk back, because of the comments and voices.

Whether I am manic or depressive or normal, I give tip based on the service. If I like I give else exact amount on the bill.

Where I live, in Michigan, waitresses are only paid $3.84/hour which is the minimum wage for waitresses by law. So yes, absolutely, I tip! If I can’t tip 18-20% of the bill depending on how good the service was, I simply don’t go. I always check the menu and prices before going to a restaurant and decide if I can afford it ahead of time.

I factor in the tip to the overall price. For eating out and for delivery to us. The workers make so little because their bosses sell the job by promises of good tips. So i feel like they deserve a tip.

I stopped tipping. I tell servers that if the restaurant doesn’t pay enough, they should quit.

Not being political but only in the west you get to pay everyone else “taxes” first before paying yourself, you pay inheritance tax, unrealized gains tax, capital gains tax, withholding tax, tipping etc etc.

In Asia, taxes are made quite simple into a few categories only and tips arent essential.

I am a great tipper.

Have been since I waited tables for exactly one week.

People in the service industry don’t make enough money and don’t get enough respect.

Thats what im saying. You have to know their suffering is real.

I also make it a point to ask if they get their tips.

You’d be surprised how many people will actually say “no” at their place of work.

But most the time they either get to keep their personal tips or pool them and spilt.

Where I live, there is an IHOP with a big T-bone steak meal. They sell the whole meal for like 19 bucks; but, I formerly helped to cut up T-bone steaks, and I think the steak alone must be at least a 30 dollar steak. So, I give a $10 tip. :stuck_out_tongue:

I always tip for sit-down restaurants, meaning we have a waiter. They are expending lots of energy, both mental and physical, trying to make our visit a pleasant experience. Most of the time, I guess.

But when I am picking up some more loose-leaf tea, for example, and the machine asks for a tip… that’s just ridiculous. They did the very minimum. They did nothing more, so why are they asking for a tip?

Also, with ordering food to-go, they just prepare your order and you have to go pick it up, yourself. That doesn’t deserve a tip either. Or if you have to stand in line at a fast food restaurant, order your food, and they just hand it to you. Nothing fancy, just the bare minimum.

Tip culture is getting out of hand. It seems even my doctor will soon ask for tips. When I order something online, like a shirt… and then they ask for a tip as you are about to place the order… what the hell? If you want more money, then just increase the cost of the clothing, a bit. I hate being pressured to tip for EVERYTHING, these days.

It depends i find it ridiculous that subway asks for a tip all they did was make me a sandwich but if i order delivery i definantly tip

In the UK 10% tip on restaurant meals is expected and often factored into the final bill. You would only not pay it if you had a really bad experience. I’ve never not tipped.

That said no one tips bartenders or fast food places etc and thats not normal to tip for here.

I used to feel compelled to leave a large tip when I ate out, but then a couple of people told me that had unsavory implications. I’m probably going to lose my hold on a spot in assisted living. I think they’re going to jerk the rug out from under me. They’re going to take my snap benefits too. Those are the breaks.
