Do you all tip?

I rarely do… only when I go restaurants or get delivery but rarely… I definitely tip if visiting the states … there’s just not much of a tipping culture here

I tip sometimes! but never feel like I have too. It’s just not the done thing in the uk as our waiters and waitresses are actually paid properly

Only when nudged.

I used to be offended at having to tip in restaurants. I didn’t like the feeling that I had no choice; that I had to tip. So I usually only tipped 10-15% and I resented even that much. But then when my older sister got a job as a waitress in a café for 5 years she told me that most waiters and waitresses often only made minimum wage and they depended on tips to survive. Waitresses often work 8 hour shifts and they’re on their feet the whole time and have to smile and work fast and be friendly day after day. So with her influence, I got a different point of view and I started tipping 20% and I still do to this day.

I try to, I usually become more generous after some drinks but either way I try to as I know they need the tips.

It’s a lot easier if there is a reminder though.

I hate that so much about my country (USA) that they charge such high prices for everything, restaurants, taxi’s, delivery service, and then we are expected to tip their employees on top of those high prices. Companies really like to screw you over here.

That said, I tip according to the service I receive, and the friendliness with which it was delivered.

Tipping is such a volatile subject. I hate tipping…mostly because the cooks who do the majority of the work see none of it, while some waitress brings food and drinks. And if I get bad service I’m tipping 2%. Oh, pet peeve: when the waiter/esses squat at my table to be more eye-to-eye with me. Stand up goshdammit.

i think tipping is unfair…i dont like the idea that one has to tip…that does my head in…as you asy ish youre not obliged to tip either here in ireland, but in expensive restaurants there is huge pressure to tip

i used to work as a loungeboy when i was 16/18…and i loved to get tips…i didnt make that much…but these days they are the only staff that i dont mindd tipping…but 10% is what i consider a fair tip nothing more!

I used to work as a pizza delivery driver, and really relied on tips. If I got a 10-15% tip, that was a success. Most people tip much less than that, at least for pizza delivery. And if you order pizza alot, and never tip, you better expect shitty service. That’s just the way it is

Here in Canada 15% tip is required, if you don’t the waitress will force you to tip 15%. Uber also has mandatory tip, 10% minimum.

I forgot to tip and this lady yelled at me because I didn’t tip her. I ended up tipping her six dollars because she was so upset.

If you don’t tip after the waitress forces you they won’t let you get in that restaurant again.

Waitresses are paid less than min wage bcz they receive tips so they live and depend on it.

I tip all the regular places you supposed to at, 10-15%, just the typical thing.

I like to tip.
More recently generously tipping those people delivering our groceries.

They are risking their lives.

Yes i always tip for food in restaurants. Its just part of what u do when eating out in the states if i cant afford the tip i wouldn’t go out to eat. I think its just kind of rude as the people serving you rely on your tips without them they don’t make enough.

In Sweden and Australia :australia: you are not required to tip.

I think they have a good wage.
I have worked as a waitress and didn’t get tipped.

I usually don’t tip but sometimes I do but when I tip it’s usually just a silver coin.
I have tipped gold coins but not often.
I’m on the pension so I don’t have heaps of money to feel I can throw around big tips.
Just affording to eat out is enough…:slightly_smiling_face:
