Fish oil and omega 3 fatty acids are supposed to do a lot of good things for you. I’m hoping they will prevent heart disease for me.

I don’t take it if I don’t have to.
It’s one of those things…no matter how much someone tells me how good it is,
I can’t bring myself to take a pill that’s called ā€˜fish oil’

No, I usually pay for it.

I take 1000mg a day. 3 capsules of high strength spaced throughout the day. I read some medical report years ago that it combats depression if you take 1000mg a day. It seems to work for me. I am only occasionally depressed and it never lasts long.

It is also healthy against heart diesease. It doesn’t interact with meds, so why not take it for health reasons alone?

I started fish oil and B vitamins recently (or actually the vegetarian variant… algae oil… I’m a vegetarian). I feel that it improved my situation majorly!

Before starting I very regularly experienced bouts of emotional distress (anxiety, anger, guilt, magical and obsessive thinking) and found it hard to do things because I was tired and preoccupied. After starting the algae oil and vitamins I feel I turned way more relaxed, clearheaded and stable, while staying on the same small amount of meds (1mg haldol). I feel very peaceful lately and I’m doing lots of things - I’m cleaning my house, playing games with my son, volunteering. If this effect lasts a long time, I plan to slowly and carefully decrease my meds some more (0.1mg a month, nothing radical). Maybe I felt worse before because of a deficit in omega 3 and B vitamins… I was a lazy vegetarian not taking supplements.

I hope it’s not placebo and this is something lasting!

I believe that fish oil helps keep my emotions stable. And also helps with my osteoarthritis that is all over my body. I take a capsule twice daily.
