I’ve ordered fish oil. I’ll try it for 6 months but was interested in hearing from those already trying it.
Does it actually help at all? Did you notice anything after taking it for a while? I seem to remember reading that it can take up to 3 months to have an effect (if it has any at all!)
Been on it for 13 months now and keeps getting better. Sex drive has been practically restored. It’s not as good as it used to be before the illness but still much improved. I no longer sleep 12 hours a night. I sleep 7-9 hours.i believe it’s not even done improving my brain. Dont take less than 2000mgs a day.
I’ve been taking fish oil for many, many years and I noticed an improvement. I noticed that my mood swings evened out and that I was no longer physically or verbally violent. Now that could have been due to the AP’s I was taking or due to the fish oil or both, I don’t know.
I take it like I take vitamins - to prevent deficiency since I don’t eat that much fish.
It’s fat soluble so it likely won’t do anything quickly, and once you stop taking it the effects won’t go away rapidly either.
One of the proposed mechanisms is also changing your gut bacteria.
I dunno I think it is one of those things that is low risk, not terribly expensive, and likely safe where even if it isn’t that noticeable, it’s worthwhile.
I should add that many brands don’t have nearly as much DHA or EPA as the label says, and it’s probably good to get a third party review on one of the ratings websites like Labdoor.
Let me clarify here. My fish oil say I’m taking almost 1000 mg of EPA per day and a little over 900 DHA per day. Many fish oils are diluted out and contain alot less than this. I take 4 softgels oer day. You want to avoid the fish oils with a lot less EPA and DHA.
I’ve been taking it about a year. I love it. I was having a heck of a hard time with my working memory, and my concentration. It’s really helped with that. It helps me with little things everyday like remembering pin numbers and passwords and balancing my checkbook. And I can read through an article or something now and actually retain what I’ve read.
@everhopeful fish oil is very good.I took fish oil for 3 month but then gave up,recently I restarted it and after a few days of taking it,I notice some improvement in my mental health.I am still very dependant on meds, but the fish oil is the best supplement for mental health.I heard it is good for cardiovascular health too
I took for 2 years, never noticed anything so doc said drop it. But it was for my heart more than anything, never helped mentally. It was recommended to help with my enlarged heart, murmur, and extreme blood regurgitation from faulty valve. Waste of 40 bucks a month, I took 5 a day.
