I feel like there is no reason for me to go unless something comes up. I don’t eat sugary foods and brush my teeth daily. im not a fan of the dentist.

My insurance covers 2 cleanings a year so I do that. The thing I noticed is you have to shop around for a good dentist. They’re not all bad. They don’t all cause pain.

I’m supposed to go every 6 months, but I have a feeling it’ll be long 'till next time. I owe them money, and when I explained my situation to their clerk who called me to collect, she was all “Maybe you shouldn’t go to the dentist if you can’t afford it”
I know, but I thought I could. Thanks for making me feel like shite, lady.

My teeth are usually fine, though. They clean them and remove stones, and that’s it.

Went yesterday.

What does remove stones mean?

I’m going to get my teeth cleaned in a couple weeks.

I go to the dentist every 4 months. I have gum problems.

I don’t know the English word, but in my language, it’s called “tooth stones”. It’s when plaque hardens and becomes stone-like

My stepdaughter usually makes sure I go every 3 months. Someone accompanies me there. However last time there was no one to take me and the appointment was cancelled.

Historically I have a poor record with seeing dentists , and that combined with poor dental hygiene and teeth grinding mean my teeth are in a very sorry state.

It would’ve probably helped if I’d brushed my teeth more, but that is something that has never been an automatic process for me. Most days it just doesn’t cross my mind to do so.

Earlier this year I went because I broke a tooth; I also went for a cleaning a couple months later. I never did follow up with the oral surgeon to have it removed (it’s a wisdom tooth), and I have since lost my insurance, so I still have that broken tooth. Actually, I have two broken teeth.

Prior to this year it had been over fifteen years since I had been to a dentist, but for most of that time I had no insurance.

@Pikasaur, it sounds like you’re describing what we call “tartar.”

No, and when one of my teeth cracked and about 25% of the tooth fell out and led to an infection, I just fixed the problem myself. I kept on washing my mouth with salt and hot water until the infection was killed.

That was a couple of years ago and I still have that busted tooth today. Way back when the tooth busted, I did see a dentist and they said it was infected and had to be removed. I said no. They said yes. Then I said no, and again they said yes. But like I said, I still have that tooth, and it is two years later.

So I have not seen a dentist for two years.

Salt water can and does also kill a cavity dead in its tracks.
They just don’t tell you that because it puts them out of business.

I go for a clean up and check up every 6 months. It’s covered by my insurance.

No, mine makes house calls. But it’s hard to get that damn chair through the doorway.
