When I have any on me. I give because I know what it is like to have nothing.

No, many of them are normal people that dress the part and get given money, I have given actual homeless people food in the past but I won’t give people at traffic lights with signs money.

Haven’t ran into any panhandlers in a long while.
I usually don’t give them anything.

I don’t know maybe I would.

I used to, when I had money and cigs to give. I don’t see any anymore since I moved out of a big city and into a small town

Last guy I gave money to was pretty funny.

He’s always outside my grocery store asking for what people can spare.

He was walking up to me and I knew I didn’t have any cash.

He asked me for some money, I told him all I had was literally change.

So I scooped the bottom of my purse, getting probably a handful of the change,

A lot of quarters, thankfully.

Gave it to him, he smiled and said “you’re a cool lady” and walked off.

It was funny to me.

Once I said to this young gal, “I was just going to ask you the same thing.”

She chased after me cursing and swearing at the top of her lungs.

I tease the young bums sometimes, but leave the older ones alone as I know they will never change.

no i don’t typically give to panhandlers, unless they ask or something, then i might spot them a couple bucks. but if it’s just some dude with a sign downtown, i walk right past them. now i do throw money to street musicians though.

no panhandlers here in my little town, but if there were, they would get run off by the police.

I was at a stopped traffic light a few years back. This young woman was begging for the 3rd day in a row at that intersection.

Me: “Why should I work all day, then give you my money?”

Woman: “Because I’m homeless you piece of sh!t.”

Me: “You’ve been on your feet now for 3 days in a row. Why don’t you apply for a waitress position?”

Woman: “F*ck you you piece of sh!t!”

Me: “Are you aware that my taxes already support the welfare check you get every month?”

The light changed and she continued swearing at me and giving me the finger as I drove off.

Yup…I had the nerve to question why she wasn’t working.

also on two occassions i have bought lunch for a homeless person and sat and ate with them. and i’ve picked up my share of hitch hikers but haven’t done that in years.

i always hate to see a homeless person with a dog panhandling, i am more likely to give them money, because i feel bad for the dog.

I’ll admit, I never give to those who have “God” written on a sign.

Or smokes, one time a homeless guy helped me replace my serpentine belt just outside richmond, pretty sketchy area

Went in the gas station and bought him some newports. Gave him ten bucks too since he was such a big help

I’ve got sympathy for people in the service industry this past year and a half. So many jobs up in smoke. Doesn’t matter how broke I am, I support the food bank every month.

Oh, I’m not cold-hearted.

My daughters and I collected 3 cars full of food for the local Pantry just this past Fall.
