Is schizophrenia a life long condition. Are you schizophrenic for life or do you lose your diagnoses after not relapsing?
Generally psychiatry doesn’t consider schizophrenia curable. They say that a long period of being symptom-free is remission, not a cure.
I once was told on newspaper that someone has recovered fully from sz after 3 relapses. He argues that his could be cured, but psychiatrists argue that he was misdiagnosed. I don’t know which is true. Is there a possibility that someone could be completely recovered or just misdiagnosed?
I would say more likely misdiagnosed
John Nash, a Nobel prize-winning mathematician “outgrew” his schizophrenia, after he hit his late 50s. It’s possible to recover.
I’ve had four cannabis induced psychotic episodes and the psychaiatrists are taking me off meds and expectingme not to have another one.
Good luck with your recovery!

@naturallycured in jon nash case Has he cured of Sz…!!!
Yeah, he was OK, didn’t need antipsychotics from his late 50s on.
Unfortunately he died in car accident… was a legend. .!!!
It’s a life long condition but misdiagnosis is possible. I was told 8 years ago it was schizophrenia but only two months back that it’s bipolar.
Age can lessen symptoms for some but it is for life or cure/better treatments.
happened to me, i was re-diagnosed from paranoid sz to anxious dependent personality traits lol
You’d have to be concerned of the original diagnosis. Many recover from first episode psychosis. That is common. A reprieve from schizophrenia is a little out of left field. It’s why time should be considered for first episode patients. Sometimes it’s obvious and if there’s family history your probably not wrong but recovery isn’t heard of which is why its diagnosed sz.
I guess I have severe schizophrenia but I also smoke 30 cigs a day and drink 4 rock stars a day. I constantly feel like crap. The negative symptoms are terrible. I’m trying to lower my meds. I dont see myself quitting rockstars unless I get off meds or get put on ADHD meds…
I absolutely do nothing all day.
I imagine a lot of discomfort off meds and high risk of psychosis but maybe my drive and motivation would return. I’m tired of being obese and lazy.
I was so much better a couple years ago even though I was sza, I did not have intrusive thoughts, went out with people from church, was outgoing, good at my job, good at school, no death threats, felt safe although felt like there was only one person/spirit not so many in my body, had my privacy, I did not suffer from social anxiety, was mature and classy.
