Is it possible to heal from schizophrenia?

I’ve had it for about 15 years now, 5 years I have been clean of drugs, I was an addict for 4 years, I was diagnosed when I came back from England years ago, I used ecstasy and was inhaling some benzine stuff.

I got a fright and became sick.

Usually, once it’s developed it doesnt disappear.

I was optimistic but my voices are again louder today.

Kinda sucks to be trapped.

Maybe if it was one psychosis and it had very good reason, person could heal.

But if it continues for a long time - I believe the miracle is needed. Overall I still try to have this hope, that either one day I will not need meds or will become 100% without symptoms.

There’s no cure for schizophrenia.

Trooooooth. I will have it until I die. It’s a matter of managing it.

I have been clean and sober for 31 years and counting. I am still an addict and alcoholic, but in remission at present. That can easily change if I am not careful. Oh, and I’m still a schizophrenic.

My psychiatrist say that it’s possible to lose the diagnosis and get rid of it.

So did mine, but then we had a discussion of “possible vs probable”.

Yeah that’s what it seems like to me to, not very probable. If it happens, then good, but I won’t be waiting for it.

I think it’s possible to get to a new normal. It forever changes your life. If your question is can you be happy while having schizophrenia I think the answer is yes.

Leading a normal life is possible if we persist and not have episodes and content with our lifestyle by following the best suitable treatment. Some of the people here are living examples.

You don’t need to be cured of sz to lead a fulfilling life. I am outperforming neurotypicals in two careers simultaneously, on meds.
