Do I really have to take meds?

If I am totally honest, if the doctor is correct on his diagnosis and I do in fact have anxiety, do I need to take the meds? I mean I will have anxiety but what are the chances of psychosis returning if I quit!

If you feel good, you feel fine, you’re taking meds…they are doing good

What makes them think you dont have sz? What meds are you on?

I am off all meds and I don’t feel great, but I don’t feel terrible. I am just wondering if it is worth taking a break from them to see.

In my opinion, there is a strong possibility you will have an agudization

I am not on any but the psychiatrist took me off all my previous medicines including antipsychotic and then put me on lamotrigine and soon I was supposed to start sertraline, until I got a reaction and made me stop… He said that becasue of the course the illness has taken, including the fact I didn’t suffer symptoms for 10 years, and was on and off meds… he can safely say I don’t have it.

I hope it is, but I find it difficult to trust the current diagnosis becase they constantly change.

I think it was very irresponsible of your GP to take you off of all of your meds.
You have had a psychotic episode in your past.
I think that remaining on Abilify would have been a good idea.

After all besides being an antipsychotic, Abilify also has strong antidepressant and mood stabilizing properties.

The psychiatrist took me off of Abilify and Tegretol and put me on two new meds, which clearly has gone the wrong way  But I don’t think it is wise to stay on lamotragine incase I really did have StevenJohnson syndrom… thats scary as hell

They didn’t think the meds were helping the problem, or the anxiety so the plan was to try something new. Probably wasn’t a good idea to try during a lock down

Yeah I agree on that one

Why were you taken off of the Abilify and Tegretol in the first place?

These are meds prescribed for other conditions besides SZ and bipolar as well.

We’re you having side effects?

He could have just lowered your Abilify dose instead of taking you off of it completely

I was not having side effects, but thinking about it, looking back, my anxiety was much worst than this before hand. Now if the lamotrigine helped with this or its improved because I came off Abilify I don’t know. And I do wonder if the abilify was exasperating the underlying anxiety I already had… I guess I will never know now. I also have a feeling the tegretol was slowing me way down in terms of work and being able to process information.

I am much less irratble than I used to be but I thought that was the lamotrigine.

Lamotrigine can worsen anxiety or make one manic.
It did for me.
