Do any of you guys have diabetes or prediabetes from the anti psychotic medication you take?

Just wondering cos I am afraid of getting diabetes. Last blood test was in June and showed high cholesterol. I hate the meds with a passion.

have you tried intermitted fasting.

I have high blood sugar thanks to abilify. If I stopped taking abilify it would go back to normal so it’s not actual diabetes.

I take metformin for my high blood sugar. Metformin has no side effects for me. Metformin is to control diabetes.

People who have diabetes and take metformin live longer than people without diabetes.

Nope. I’m gonna rely on weight training to stay healthy with cardio twice a week.

I’m diabetic due to the meds.
I take metformin to help control my high blood glucose but I’m afraid that my doctor will place me on a more potent med soon.

Not yet. I’m 268lbs and 6 feet tall. I’ve been taking meds for 7 years. I have very high triglycerides.

No but I get blood draws to check for it, I think because of the med I’m on.

I’ve been on a high protein very low carb diet the last 3 months. I lost 27 pounds. My blood sugar was just tested and is in the prediabetes range. My dr says it’s from my antipsychotics. I’m going to be retested in 3 months. If it’s the same while on a very low carb diet, my dr is sending me to an endocrinologist. I’m very frustrated. Diabetes does not run in my family. This should not be happening.

I’m not sure to be honest. I know that I’m obese for my age and height and I have high cholesterol levels but I’ve never been diagnosed with it.

I was diagnosed with diabetes in 2011 after taking Zyprexa for several years. I switched to Risperdal but the elevated blood sugar never went away completely.

I have metabolic syndrome which I got from the Seroquel that I took for 12 years. They took me off of it, but I still have the metabolic syndrome.

We are in the process of increasing my med actually. I have a limited income so I can only afford certain medications so I don’t have a lot of choices.

Don’t you have health insurance to cover the medication cost? I get meds for free over here in the UK thanks to our national health service (nhs).

I have Medicare isurance. When the cost of my meds (I have multiple for multiple conditions) reaches 3750 I have to pay half the code. Many APs, specifically what my dr wants me to take, cost $2000 PER MONTH, like Invega and Latuda for example. So no, I cannot rely on my health insurance for the cost of meds.
