My cognition got worse 3yrs before my first psychosis diagnosis.
Yes, my grades in school started going down when I was 12. I also developed other symptoms of SzA, at 12 years old.
I wasn’t diagnosed until I was 23.
My grades were always bad. I never applied myself. And I’d always leap before thinking.
If anything I’m better now with cognitive stuff overall. Just a bit slower
My cognitive impairment started with my burnout in late 1999. During an intense hypomanic episode 8 years later, the cognitive impairment (and other symptoms) was temporarily relieved. A few years later I developed a psychosis resembling paranoid schizophrenia with auditory hallucinations and paranoia. In the more than 10 years since, the hallucinations and paranoia haven’t come back, but I’ve had some manias and some delusions.
-Albert.
Yeah, I graduated high school with an A average, but my first experience with mental illness occurred the following year during my first year at University. My grades tanked and I eventually dropped out and was diagnosed with schizophrenia.
I think my cognition has improved since I became stable, but it’s not as good as it once was. But I am not teenager/twenties anymore either, I am 43.
My cognitive decline started with my breakdown fresh out of high school end of 2002. I’ve not been too good with studying since then. Either not motivated enough to finish or too distracted. Brain foggy and memory not as sharp.
Yes, I got cognitive impairments first, then negative symptoms and then positive symptoms.
Yes, I believe so. But the symptom that I noticed the most pre sz diagnosis was Anhedonia. I noticed that I was often not able to enjoy things that I had previously enjoyed.
No. Way later. Well maybe not that much later. I remember in the beginning, it seemed too overwhelming to even look at my license plate, to see what the numbers were, when I got a new one. Then when I was on some lithium, I was able to look at my plate and comprehend what the numbers were. Now I can’t stop reading license plates.
Same for me, exactly.
