Did the weed played in my sz?

I’m just sick of people spreading lies about ■■■■. Everyone’s entitled to your opinion and experience. But don’t spread lies to people and over sweeping generalizations. I let it slide for a while but now I’m truly sick of it. Marijuana is by far the best medicine I have ever taken. Everyone in my life knows it is for me at least. Even my mom who used to be anti weed. Now she’s taking Cbd and stuff. Times change. 90% of studies on marijuana were seeking bad effects from the drugs. Everyone knows marijuana is benign for at least 80% of the population and much safer than alcohol for a lot tooof society. Getting sick of people allowed to spread lies because it agrees with the the admins agenda.

First if all, hallucinogen persisting perception disorder is etiologically very different from schizophrenia, so that’s not really relevant when discussing the possibility of a causal link between sz and cannabis.

Second, yes, the causes of sz are multifactorial. What I’m pointing out here is that cannabis is not one of those causes at all, or if it is, is most likely irrelevant because the effect is too small to matter.

And lastly, the idea that stressful events in adolescence and adulthood precipitate the onset of sz has also been met with skepticism recently, and for the same reasons that the proposed causal link from cannabis to sz has been met with growing skepticism - it appears that the correlation is due to third variables or runs in the opposite direction, that is, from sz to cannabis and preceding stressful events, and not from cannabis and preceding stressful events to sz.

The last time I smoked weed, I saw a flash of light, two cats running, tactile hallucinations on my back etc.

No but I heard it from a doctor

Another time I smoked weed, I had auditory hallucinations, feeling of peeing on my pants, raindrops on my skin

Weed is definitely not good for schizophrenics or anyone else, it is a mind altering drug

Well your doctor is wrong because medical marijuana Goes really well with my 3 other medicines. It’s obviously good for my well being. It could be bad for yours. I tend to think you’d have to be the anomaly and a rare case. But it helps me. Living proof your doc is wrong.

Sure. It’s dangerous. I experienced it first hand. No more for me.

I guess we shouldn’t take our meds because they alter our mind. People have different brain chemistry’s. Would help if they allowed us to do studies on it for 50 years or w.e

The only reason people want weed is to get high, now CBD is a different story, but as long as there is THC in it people just want to gey high, there is no good medical reason for THC it is a stimulant and stimulants are bad for schizophrenics.

Thc is only a stimulant with sativa strains and even then it is not purely a stimulant. But properties of multiple classifications of drugs. Marijuana is actually considered in a class by itself, neither a depressant nor a stimulant, nor a psychedelic. Just “weed”. It’s own category.

And that’s so wrong I don’t know why you talk about things you don’t know about??

The reason people get high doesn’t start and end with “getting high”.

There’s so many other reasons such as helping anxiety, yes there is a mood lift, which is why people get high. People also treat nausea from chemo, glaucoma, ptsd, chrons disease, so many other reasons.

Me personally, I’d say aside from medicating my anxiety is to gain an altered perspective in thinking, creative thinking, appreciate nature although I don’t need weed to appreciate nature. It doesn’t hurt ;).

So you take a drug to have more creativity? that’s not very natural. And you’re right I don’t know much about weed, because I’m not gonna to ever take it. But I do know it’s is a stimulant because a psychartist said so, and he’s much more educated than either me or you.

I don’t have to I choose to. You should respect people’s decisions to do what they want more. It’s a stimulant, depressant and a psychedelic

https://www.healthline.com/health/is-weed-a-depressant#takeaway Read up. It’s all three. Mostly depends on the strain and the person.

I take weed for my anxiety but if it makes me more creative am I gonna complain??

Dude I don’t hate on people for staying sober stop being a hater on people who get high

And truth be told. You said you’re 16?? Weed is not for kids. Your friends give you an altered opinion on adults doing a drug. I’m not a kid anymore… thank god I never smoked or drank or did drugs as a kid.

Heck, the kids want me to do weed. But you are right it is a stimulant, depressant, and psychedelic. As a person on this forum who cares, I would suggest to stop doing it because of those things. And try to find a different drug to take. I don’t want anyone to end up like my friend who got really paranoid during weed. Now we should probably end this before one of us get banned

It’s hard to tell if weed caused my schizophrenia or genetics. I mean all my friends smoke it and don’t schizophrenia.

It always pops up in my head though, whether weed or genetics caused my schizophrenia.

I’ve read a lot of people that blame their sz on weed because they feel like they need to blame it on someone, and they end up blaming themselves. It’s sad. My doctor said it best, “you’re just a bit unlucky”

I have a lot of friends who smoke weed who are not mentally ill and have not developed schizophrenia. As for schizophrenics and weed, I think it varies from person to person. As for the argument above, I think @John_Raven means well. He’s just trying to help. With that being said, the original question was did the weed play a part in @Anna1’s sz. I would like to ask @Anna1 if anyone else in her family has suffered from schizophrenia?

From what I’ve read, schizophrenia is genetic, there are those prone to developing schizophrenia because of genetics. I have also read in some places that marijuana use in the developing mind can increase the chances of schizophrenia. Another article mentioned that it there is still not enough research to validate those claims. In any case, with the legalization of cannabis in some states, I’m sure we’ll find out in about 20 years or so.

This thread will likely be closed before anna1 answers. I’d understand why too. She was asking if it could have affected her and it sort of became a anti vs pro pot debate. Most of the marijuana threads become this. Let’s just respect each other and spark a joint… or not. Let’s save the arguing for the he-man woman haters. I bet @Jonnybegood and @John_Raven would come to an agreement against them.

I think, that probably my dad had something… He died also from depression mixed with alcohol… But he was always functional so he was never diagnosed. He was also abusive to my mom and sister…
Yeap, I know that probably my problems are not from the weed. I was just saying, that I lost my time with this weed for years and I had very hardcore trips on it, which probably just made me even more desperate. With the weed, I was maintaining myself for years in this illusionary world and I didn’t think of a treatment while on weed… Maybe the weed even gave me a bit of a calm effect, cause when I stopped it, I went profoundly paranoid (the illness in itself). I was just saying, that in my case it was bad for me. I know it helps lots, I also had its calming effect so I wasn’t so anxious, but I was remaining in zombie land with the combo of weed and illness. But I agree, its more to blame the illness. The weed is good for some, not so much for me. Even though, that I had quite good trips on it too, almost dreamy lands  .
But I am unhappy since kid, I was struggling very hard and I went so desperate through the years, that I destroyed myself to an inimaginable point lol… I guess my mental problem is since kid, not even the weed yeah… For my mom, my illness is purely genetic. She blames the genes of my dad’s family…
