How are you managing? Are you doing well eating the right things? Have you lost weight since changing your diet? Do you take meds or inject? Do you use a monitor for blood glucose and how oftendo you use it? How often do you get checked at clinic? Have you ever reversed diabetes? Do you have any complications?
Ive got diabetes, most likely caused by the zyprexa. Its not a big deal to me, just another couple of metformin tablets to add to my daily cocktail. Taking metformin has had the positive of losing me 28 pounds in weight with no effort on my part. Ive not changed my diet but i dont have a sweet tooth anyway.
Right that seems pretty straightforward for you.
I find it all very challenging
I miss the junk food really and metformin hasnt kept any weight off. Im trying to eat more fruit and vegetables but it feels painful tbh
Yeh unfortunately the weight loss from metformin doesnt work for everyone, some people lose loads and some none at all. I do think its a good med though because i get no side effects from it, and ive read it can increase lifespan.
But if your on a couple of metformin a day then your diabetes has got worse so not reversing by any means?
It seems to stay the same, ive not been able to reverse it.
I reversed my diabetes by eating healthier, spreading my carbs throughout the day, not eating more than 150 grams of carbs per day and restricting calories so that I lost some weight.
I showed I was diabetic, made those changes, and my A1C 3 months later was no longer in the diabetes range.
I’m now only on metformin.
You wouldn’t be on metformin at all if you had reversed diabetes?
Well it hasn’t stayed the same has it because its doubled in dose?
So much BS on this website its unreal
My dr has me staying on Metformin to help lose weight @anon29983254
I technically have diabetes, but it’s well controlled with metformin and Mounjaro (well, the Mounjaro has been out of stock for the last month, so it’s just the metformin now). I track my food intake and macros, and I walk a LOT each week. I also went from 298 lbs to 155 lbs over 3 years.
My A1c is good…5.3. My fasting sugars are under 100. But, if I eat something high carb, my sugars can go thru the roof. I’m talking a Hershey’s bar will take me into the 300s easily, and I’ll feel really sick for about 3 hours until it comes down. So I guess I still have poor glucose tolerance.
I’m bad about checking my sugars unless they feel too high or low.
I think the years of atypical antipsychotics made me diabetic, but it’s hard to tell if it was that or lifestyle problems…
I have diabetes and take Metformin to manage it. I do have a glucose meter that I use once in a while. I did reverse diabetes 2 years ago when I lost 60 lbs my A1C went down to 5.0 but unfortunately I’ve gained all my weight back and have a A1C of 8.0.
I have diabetes but at the moment it’s under control
Losing weight, exercise and the miracle drug Mounjaro all have helped
I’m also on Metformin which I’m thinking about eliminating
My apologies, i just lost the plot earlier and thought everyone was lying. My mistake
Sorry @LilyoftheValley @fingolfin i was rude please accept my apologies
No problem apology accepted Ducky. I wasnt trying to lie to you just didnt realise you wanted me to be so precise with my wording. Youre right that my diabetes has gotten worse over the years but it has remained stable for about the last decade. Ive had diabetes a long time nearly 20 years.
Thanks for explaining. I do get paranoid sometimes though my fault
It’s ok @anon29983254 . No worries.
I got my diabetic kit tester in the post yesterday so ive taken a couple of readings
First one was 9.7 after food so quite high
2nd was 6.9 before food. Still a bit high
Ive had weetabix and 2 metformin for breakfast
Im just hoping i can eat better
The kit makes me more aware of what im putting in my mouth , this isn’t easy though and i don’t wanna end up on insulin
What do you think @Bowens ? Am i doing ok? It feels like im doing bad and im a bit on high side
I read that eating every 3-4 hours helps regulate blood sugars, is this a good idea?
