I posted a lot about being newly diabetic. I had mentioned I cut sugar. Also moved to drinking mostly water with the very rare diet pop, and a cup or 2 of coffee a day.
As of Tuesday I had lost 13 pounds. Now, with as much as I’ve been peeing, a lot of probably water weight being flushed out. But still, that’s a big difference that a diet change can make.
I still have cravings for sugar here and there. But it isn’t overpowering. I’m pretty surprised at how much easier it was this time.
Good job! Cutting sugar is not easy. That’s awesome that you’re already adjusting and not craving as often as before. Are you checking your blood sugar levels? How’s that going?
Congrats @anon4362788 ! I have not been losing much, if anything, myself by cutting just snacks a bit. I had already cut out most sugar ages ago so I had already got that benefit. Just want to say that cutting out sugar only got me so far. You may hit a wall on weight loss from that. Not trying to discourage you, just telling what happened when I cut out most sugar, sugary drinks in particular. You may have to add other things in to lose later on.
Good luck reversing it. I hope it is easy for you.
Edit: My high was 248.8. I’m now around 235. I lost most of that weight when I stopped drinking sugary drinks and consumed less sugar in food. But after awhile it leveled out. I also switched from invega to aripiprazole.
I have been cutting sugar as well and today I noticed I have lost ~7kg which is great.
All I had to do was cutting most of the sugars. I switched to non sugar drinks, foods and just left out the obvious sugars (sweets and pastries and stuff like that) and that is working nice. I feel so much better and I don’t even miss sugar that much anymore. Once a week I give myself a treat, around ~100g of sweets, because cutting sugar totally just won’t work with me, I have tried.
I’m on abilify and clozapine and it makes losing weight much harder.
Antidepressants aren’t really helping either.
I don’t weigh myself that often, maybe every 5-6 weeks, because I know weighing often will just make me anxious and give me much distress.
Oh,I’m aware
I cut sugar before, then ate less, then exercised. You have to change your entire lifestyle. But it can’t be all at once. The only way you can stick with it is by changing one ortwo things at a time
As a real sugarholic myself, I am totally incapable of cutting out food sugar. It’s what I live for. But I can and mostly have cut out all sugar found in drinks. I don’t need it.
I was the same, but after I saw a very unflattering picture, I decided it was sugar or die fat. Then it came to light I am diabetic now, so I’d have had to cut it anyway.
I’m 100% sure that a million very unflattering photos could be taken of me. And my weight is normal. So I’m sticking with my beloved sugar. (Granted, if I were ever to become diabetic, I’m sure I’d change my mind).
