Depressed about getting older

20’s were stressful, 30’s made me realize my failability and put my megalomania to bed, late 30’s seem to be going in the right direction. Looking forward to the 40s, hopefully they go as planned, we’ll see

I used to be so scared of old people when I was little. I don’t know why. My little sister felt/feels the same way and once told me she was scared of old people because of their wrinkled faces.

Now I love old folks. I get along with them very easily. Kids are just dumb sometimes.

I turned 29 on May. I don’t feel I’ve accomplished much but I feel I’ve been improving mental health wise steadily. I’ve been trying to live well. Have been having nice days lately, the meds are working and I’m growing closer to my family again. It feels nice.

THAT IS IMPOSSIBLE. Because I feel exactly the same. Therefore we are each one of the same.

I too have a baby face, so even though I am 60, I don’t look my age.

I’m 36 and I guess I’m getting older. I plan on losing a lot of weight so I wonder what my face will look like when I have. Probably not anything like the last time I was a normal-ish weight in my teens.
But with med changes I find I don’t have a huge appetite anymore and that really helps. Maybe Sometime I will find the romance I lacked because of how sick I was and how young.
At 14 most guys started discovering girls in a slightly more serious way, I started having manipulative hallucinations at that age.
All they harp on now is “You don’t have a girlfriend” over an over.

Turning 49 this fall. Going shopping this weekend to find suspenders I can use to hold up my ill-fitting plaid pants that I plan to wear with a stained t-shirt and bunny slippers. Can’t wait!

I am 32, but never happen to question what will happen to me when I get older than 50. But, sometimes my wife ask me if I’m afraid of getting old and soon will not able to do what I use to be. I told her that we are all going into that state, better to take care of our health so we won’t suffer much when we are old,

I’m 58 years old, and I’m experiencing a decline in my physical powers. I think I can stave off some of that through exercise, but it won’t be easy. I did just a few repetitions on the jump rope and my knee stiffened up. I’m looking forward to an ever greater loss of physical strength. The inevitable direction is down for me.

Jump rope is about the most intensive thing I can think of, you should work on something easier. Lifting weights is supposed to be good for your bones. I seriously think light weights would be the best thing

@crimby you can try swimming it is easier on the muscles and on your cardiovascular system.
You can also try working out strengthening your muscles and then trying to jump again.
@Moonwalker for me at least, rowing ( indoor rower) is much more intense than jumping.

Erez, have you ever seen a boxer jump rope ? I guarantee if you’re doing it right it’s the hardest (maybe)

I say that for me rowing is much more intense than jumping on the spot.
It’s a fact.
What is true is that I don’t jump rope I just jump on the spot,
but as the main exertion in jumping rope is done by the legs I think the intensity is at least similar.
That’s me. For different people it might be different.
Also jumping on the spot and jumping rope might be different.

It is a lot different, especially if you’re doing double jumps. Plus you got your arms going like crazy and you have to keep up with the coordination. With the double jumps your basically off the Ground most of the time. Back in the old days I could do that stuff for 1000 jumps. And that’s a lot harder than running a mile or something like that. Sorry to say I can’t keep up with my old self anymore. Maybe I got to start training on the rope again :blush:

In any case @Moonwalker I wish you luck, train hard it is good that you can jump rope,
those who can’t do it because they can’t operate the rope can do other stuff like jumping on the spot
(I assure you that when jumping on the spot you are airborne most of the time),
running ON A FLAT SURFACE(to avoid knee problems),
rowing, swimming.
In the past I used to demonstrate very high levels of fitness, albeit for a short period.
In any case I blush for everyone who makes the effort,
for me the effort counts and not the performance,
some people have a higher built in fitness but people with low built in fitness are not inferior in any way.
Also I want to tell everyone that extreme fitness swings are possible at least in some cases,
I went from very low fit to very high in a short period of time
(now I’m far from the high water mark).

At one time a long time ago I was doing 2,000 repetitions on the jump rope a day. I never missed. I just did seventy repetitions a couple of weeks ago, and my right knee stiffened right up. I have to accept the fact of my physical decline. I can only delay it. I can’t stop it.

Someone who writes this well and still decides that everything is meaningless doesn’t have much imagination. :sweat: I mean come on. “Everyone dies and forgets, therefore everything is meaningless”? I stopped thinking that way many years ago, and I’m still in my 20’s.
