I’ve put so much effort into calorie counting and it failed. So I’m going to try the Atkins diet again. I was on it before and lost a lot of weight. Basically it’s a high protein high fat diet.
It’s not an easy diet. You do end up craving carbs. It’s great when you start it though. You get to eat lots of delicious stuff and the weight falls off.
Dieting is not impossible. In September I have been dieting for 4 years straight, lost 60 pounds and have kept it off. Before that I started 2 times but failed both times, the second time about 2 years in. The last time, I started on the low carb and was on that for 2,5 years, then I went vegan. IMO the low carb is not sustainable, I had extreme willpower and managed to fight the cravings, but I did have one cheat day a week, other days I ate super low carbs. Veganism is much easier, no cravings. The meat, dairy and egg cravings disappear after a while, carb cravings on the other hand just get worse. I know we can survive on ketones, but it’s nowhere near optimal. I have a lot of carbs daily, they’re not evil nor do they cause weight gain. Counting calories never worked for me. The low carb diets are essentially calorie restriction diets, people find they are less hungry on them so they eat less.
I’ve decided to do the “Atkins 40” diet which allows 40 grams of carbs a day. I’ve already done my online shopping for it. I’ll start next Tuesday as my shopping gets delivered on Monday.
Oh sounds great. Just @anon1571434 suggested I do the ketogenic diet, it is identical.
I made a sample menu for a day. Do you want me to send it to you ?
I will start on Monday 10th if I reach there alive ;((
Atkins helped me lose 50 lbs but meat is expensive. Several years ago it seemed like you couldn’t turn on the TV or listen to the radio without hearing about the Atkins diet. Everybody was talking about it. But I don’t hear it mentioned much anymore.
